Oh, okay. But I'm just saying not a lot of people have the luxury of fulfilling work.

I would have to agree with that.

kraftiekortie is correct in the fact that I have had previous work exp,

Here's the issue as I see it if I'm going to to work retail it's not going to be a retail chain that's on the bottom of the scale this is something that's got to go on my resume someday and I've already worked at one restaurant that is at the bottom of the social economic scale if I were to follow that up with say a job at Dollar General dollar tree this isn't really a dollar store but we'll call it one anyway then it would tell my future employer in the sector that I want to get into that I can't do any better.

You should go for the bookstore. Probably less stress on you.

Even if you work in retail/fast foot/whatever, it's still better to have a consistent work history than an inconsistent work history.

I disagree. I think it tells them that you're not afraid to do less than ideal jobs.

Hey, For some reason the book store at my local college can't find my application that I filled out twice so tomorrow (wens) I'm going to talk with a manager and tell her that I've filled out the app twice and included my resume & see if we can figure something out. Barns & Noble maybe a crap shoot I've been told they have "100's of apps coming in every week" so I'm up against some competition Books a million they told me just to keep an eye out for an e-mail regardless if I get the interview or not.

You maybe right about that however, whenever I talk with family members about my resume the restaurant that I worked at doesn't appear to look too favorable being that it is a job that is lower on the scale really remedial not a testament to the knowledge or (general) experience I have. I'm not totally against the idea of retail I've applied at a local Target kicking around the idea of a 3rd shift stocking at a grocery store (won't have to deal with the public), dollar stores to me are on the same level as say goodwill...JMO

For the field that I want to get into I wouldn't mind starting at the bottom grunt work set turnaround production work etc.
