if there is a virus, why isnt it addressed to the developer that so called developed this site. because if there is a virus. clean it out and get rid of the problem before we all get affected by the problem.

I don't think it is a virus, autismthinker21, calling it that was an attempt at simultaneously sharing mild humor and real frustration.

I have taken to copying everything into notepad and doing my post composition there, then pasting the whole thing back when I have finished editing. That protects you against losing a post you put time into, but it does nothing to change the experience of getting captchas 3 or 4 times in a row... :(

Quotes, images, links, videos, taking "too long", CloudFlare doesn't like anything. For the longest time it's made it a pain to send any PM longer than a sentence or two. The last two days I've gotten captcha with 3 posts as well.

There are currently 3 new threads on it, so it's obviously a problem for many.

The taking "too long" part is simply a stupid feature to me; spam must take a very short time in posting, as the objective must be to post as many posts as possible in the most websites possible to rise the "advertisements" visibility and rise the probability someone would fall for the scams. I guess they must copy-paste their posts.

^ No argument there. It takes a human to take time.

We should be thankful to the captcha. Being deprived of what you want builds character and teaches you to cope with the real world, which doesn't need to be pleasant. The massive waste of time it demands teaches you the importance of managing your time wisely, and its preference for extremely short and simple posts helps you embrace terse and plain speech as your way to communicate with others, eschewing needless ornaments and pompous verbiage.

Are you being sarcastic? I thought you were going to say that we should be thankful to the captcha for stopping all those spambots, which is what it's supposed to do. The only problem is, it's stopping all the legitimate posters too.

I'm applying to the captcha the same rhetoric we usually hear about bullying.

I hadn't thought of that, but hey, who said spam doesn't build character, too? Especially for moderators!

I wonder whether bots are already better than humans at solving captchas. Someone told us here once he used a browser add-on to read them for him, and it was quite a while ago.

They are, at least at certain kinds of CAPTCHAs.

There is a Firefox addon called Webvisum [http://www.webvisum.com/], intended for blind users. Based on my testing, it sometimes works, but the solutions are far from "instant", as the website claims. They may well have a human solving them, eg. via Amazon Mechanical Turk. Also, it has a nasty habit of copying the solution to the clipboard without warning, overwriting whatever you had there... like, say, the text of your post that you copied there just in case!
