Hello Moderators - Permission to Post Research
Hello Moderator(s)-
I would like permission to post a research survey to Wrong Planet for adults with autism spectrum disorders. The research will study the relationship between social media use and wellness factors (happiness & life satisfaction). An opportunity to win an apple watch sport is offered as an incentive to the participants. The identity of the participants will not be collected or known to the researcher.
The research will satisfy some of the requirements for a Ph.D. in psychology from Fielding Graduate University.
As a new user, I cannot post the survey link or the flyer link. I am happy to provide both for your review via email or another method.
Thank you for your consideration.

^ Private messages are sent from member to member inside of the site only, as opposed to sending a message to someone's personal e-mail account.
To send someone a PM, go to the top-right-hand corner of the page and click on (0 new messages); this takes you to your control panel. On the left of the page, click Compose message; in the Usernames box (again on the left), type in the name of the member you want to send your message to (in this case: alex) then click Add [To]; and the rest is easy ![]()
Hello Wrong Planet-
Regarding my previous post asking for permission to present a research survey, I tried private messaging Alex about five days ago and I sent an email about ten days ago. I haven't heard back from him. I expect that he receives way too many emails in total and he has his own life to live.
I truly want to be respectful and I don't want to keep messaging him. I think that might be rude.
Here is my dilemma, do I give up on gaining insight from your community for my research or should I keep writing emails to Alex to gain permission to post a research survey?
It is important to me to have your perspectives. My research will investigate the relationship between social media use, including internet forums, and happiness as well as life satisfaction in adults with any form of autism spectrum disorders. The survey includes two scales related to wellness and one scale that will allow me to corroborate the self reported diagnosis, which could include self diagnosis. There is a final item that will allow you to write anything you would like the researcher to know. I hope that this research will capture your experiences in using a site like Wrong Planet in terms of happiness and life satisfaction as well as a final open ended question allowing your own thoughts to be presented.
If you can suggest any way that I might obtain permission to present the research survey and flyer, it would be greatly appreciated. As an incentive there is an apple watch sport lottery associated with this research.
Thank you for reading this post. I am deeply grateful for any assistance you may provide.
If you have any questions please feel free to ask.
Sincerely,
Deborah Ward
You must direct all such inquiries in Private Messages to the website's owner, Alex.
The reason I previously posted "Good luck" is that Alex seems to rarely (if ever) grant such permission.
If you receive no reply at all from Alex, then the default answer to your request would seem to be "No".

Hello Fnord-
Thank you for your response. Although it seems that this avenue of inviting participants may not work, I have to laugh because when you first wrote, "Good Luck," I interpreted the denotation of the words over the now obvious connotation.
In your levels of hinting, I guess I reached the end of the series. I missed all subtle hints...
I will wait awhile and try reaching out to Alex again.
I will keep monitoring this post and the PM messages.
Cheers,
Deborah
