Mods with no moderator badge?

So there are mods who have the green writing by their name which says they're moderators, but there are also other users with moderator powers but there's nowhere which says they're mods. Is there any reason for this?

My understanding is that Alex does the green badge thing. Some people who stop moderating are left with it for a time, others who were recently added to the moderating team still don't have it.

If it's the same way here as it is on my forum, it comes down to whether you just remove them from a group, or also change their default setting. You can be added or removed as moderator without changing the default setting.

I take your point, iliketrees, and to make it less confusing: for the time being, if I am posting from a moderating perspective, I'll put something at the end of the post that makes this clear, eg "B19 in mod mode". If I am posting as a member, then there will just be the usual member details. Hopefully that will clarify any confusion.

checking the mod usergroup is a lot more reliable than looking at the badge.
