Multitasking IRL gets easier the more you get used to customizing your workflow environments around your preferences and ergonomic needs as well as with experience. I've been a RHEL nerd for something like 7 years at least now and while I don't use it at work (I'm doing topological CAD/CGI) querying package repositories and exploring file viewers helps me a LOT with background research and saving money on software licenses and/or deciding which programs I may ultimately want or need. I own two big Wintel machines (i7/Nvidia 2gb Optimus 17.3 Laptop & Haswell i5 GMA4000 Dell XPS 18) but my main computer is a dual core 1.66ghz Atom N280 netbook with 2gb RAM running Fedora 21. I too should buy a workstation sooner or later to get comfy with enterprise VMs & hypervisoring.

Thought I'd revisit this thread.

I wound up parting ways with the company at the same time the audiologist confirmed I have hearing loss in my right ear. Possibly caused by Ramsay Hunt Syndrome. It could be the mechanics of my ear are fine, but the nerves related to hearing where pinched or damaged by a virus.

After a run of more stupid odd jobs, I've decided to try more college. I'm in a 2 year degree program for Software Developer, so I'm hoping I can do something with this and that being some kind of programmer gives me more flexibility.

So far, I'm mostly focused on C#, HTML - CSS, and Database Design. This program will eventually include .NET, Javascript, and Java.
