Work from home as a Programmer

I'm pursuing another college degree in a Software Developer program and I've started to consider this while taking my classes. So far, I'm learning Database Design, HTML-CSS, and some C#. Next semester, I'll do more C# and start Javascript.

I feel like there is a lot of potential for flexibility with these skills and wondered if anyone else here has found work from home opportunities as a programmer.

Just a thought.

I have worked with some people who, after having put in like 10 years or so at the company, worked completely from home in another state across the country from us and were flown in on the company's dime as needed a few times a year. I think it's pretty typical for programmers to work from home one day a week or just when they need to, say if they're sick or their kids are home from school.

It's a good career field, especially for aspies and people from different cultures. Diversity-friendly.

Don't expect 100% work from home at the start, getting used to the companies' way of work requires you to be at the office, at least at first.

That said: programming and the software development environment is very diversity-friendly indeed, ND people are even welcomed warmly, as we (usually, stereotypically) have the structured and logical mindset of a computer, making the work easier for us
