I don't think Alex knows how or cares to change it. Bots are a problem on every message board but most seem to be able to handle it without Cloudflare so I am sure there are other options. Biggest problem is crap forum software.

You literally have no idea what you're talking about. It's not an anti-bot measure for web forums (cloudflare does have a security layer that filters out questionable visitors but that is just one part of it that can be turned on or off). The forum software has literally nothing to do with cloudflare so why don't you not comment on things you don't understand.

Do you realize how much of the internet is running behind cloudflare? Cloudflare is an advanced CDN that accelerates delivery of web content. It's used by tons of major sites, including Reddit and Meetup.com.

Biggest problem with the forum is the forum software is what I am saying, yes, I don't know what cloudflare does and don't really care but for whatever reason it causes a lot of problems for some people and that is what they were saying it was for. If that's all it does then why do you even have it if all it does is cause trouble? I know enough about forum software to know this one is bad btw, I don't know why else this forum would have the problems it has along with the complete lack of customization. I had a friend use vBulletin for his place for years and has never had these issues plus had way more features.

Oh? How many members were registered for his forum?

Off the top of my head there were probably 100+ active posters at the peak at least so registered I dunno? A decent amount I think but perhaps you think that's small potatoes. I have posted on larger forums than this too. What software does this forum use?

fwiw I think vB is worth the price the license costs to use it plus you get technical support, templates, and ton of extra features.

I learned something new today. Thanks!

My point is Cloudfare loses the message and you keep on having to paste it, then paste it again and it takes about 10-15 tries until it accepts it. And for many users who are technophobes it isn't a choice. And I can't make posts at all sometimes, or edit them. It is very inconvenient.

I don't know what's causing that to happen. It has taken me a maximum of two tries with even my most verbose posts, and it has never outright blocked me from posting or sending PMs (they are pretty much the same process).

If we could switch, i'd be for it.

But what is the cause of the forums slowing down to a crawl? Sometimes it freezes up all together and I have to ctrl-alt-del to shut down the frozen browser.

There are also messages about scripts not responding.

That sounds like an issue with your computer/operating system.
