I love Outnumbered. I love the way a lot of it is improvised, and it can relate you to very typical family life (and family life is my interest). There's a lot of dry wit in it, and the chaos and disasters that go on really make me laugh.
I like Jake in the very first series and maybe the second, but he turns into a bit of a rebellious, self-righteous teenager. Although he is still a funny, good character, and he's especially funny in the last series.
I love Ben. He's my favourite character. He's so obsessed with violence and sees the good side to almost everything, very upbeat. I like the way he monologues on and on without making much sense. And when he becomes a teenager he's not like Jake. He's more sociable with the family (for a teenage boy), and seems interested in logical, intelligent stuff.
Karen is a good character too (although the name Karen is rather unheard of for kids born in the 2000's). She reminds me of me a bit, more so as she gets older, when she gets anxious over stuff like terrorism, diseases and other stuff, and fails at friendships with the other girls at school. I relate to her even more in the last series when she's at secondary school. But she's so sweet as a small child, in the first few series. The way she made reality TV out of her stuffed animals made me laugh.
And Sue and Pete are both funny too. Pete often gets outsmarted by the kids and tries to protest calmly but then gets interrupted. And Sue is a good character too, she's just like a typical mum; always busy doing something and is rather illogical.
And Sue's Dad makes me laugh too, especially in the episodes when he is temporarily living at their house.
Such a brilliant show. I have the box set of all the series. Anyone else love Outnumbered?
