Babylon 5 is the greatest science fiction television series of all time and you should all watch it if you haven't.

Created by J. Michael Strazynski, it pioneered many of the techniques now used in television today. Above all it tells a continuous story in 5 seasons. it has a beginning, middle and end. It's both epic and incredibly character driven. Empires rise and fall and characters scheme and plot in the shadows. It's like Game of Thrones in spaaaaaaace!

It was also a direct inspiration for Mass Effect.

Babylon 5 is mostly set aboard the space station Babylon 5. A human made space station located in neutral territory. It's mission is to act like a kind of UN for the various space based empires of the galaxy. Everyone is at tentative peace until the events of the series start unravelling and things start to go delightfully wrong as plans are enacted. Not to mention an ancient threat from beyond the stars that is at the heart of the conflict.

It's amazing. I cannot stress how everyone here needs to see it. It's a bit old (Originally aired in 1994) but has aged very, very well and remains incredibly cinematic.

Anyway, enough of me fanboying. It's your turn to fanboy. Let's talk about how awesome the series is.

I was so obsessed with B5 when it aired! I watched it religiously and watched the tapes of my fave episodes repeatedly.

I got to rewatch the series a few years ago when I got all 5 seasons on DVD. I was still taken with it (although I didn't become obsessed second time around). It is indeed a very good series and it has main characters with so much personality.

Over the last months I have finally gotten my hand on some of the books I never got back when they were actually released, so I'm reading the good old books now, taking my sweet time and savoring them. It is very nice to visit old 'friends' in (to me) new adventures.

I've only watched a few episodes, but I liked what I saw. :)
