Does anyone find sometimes when watching a movie or any show, they can get easily lost and find it difficult keeping up with the pace of it? I don't know whether this is just an ASD thing but I can struggle to process all the information at once, especially with sci-fi or mystery movies with complicated storylines. For a long time I've kind of stopped watching movies because of this but as the summer is coming I want to stock up on them again to pass time. Another issue I have is comedy movies or sitcoms. As much as I love them I can struggle getting all the jokes fast and hidden meanings all at once, whereas for a NT they might get it instantly, and stand up comedy is really hard I find to follow.
I'm also sensitive to noise and action movies and shouting I find hard to deal with. Watching movies is different to reading books I find where you can read it in your own pace and imagine but you can't with a moving picture.

I think I used to struggle with this but as I watched more movies I got better with it. I typically read the summary on Wikipedia after I watch the movie to make sure I got everything.

Turning on the subtitles helps a lot if you have trouble following the dialogue.

Yes, although it happens less than it used to, but I have little focus unless it's really something I'm into. I remember a decade ago or so, I went to the movies with my partner and I was unable to recall some moments in the movies, sometimes I drifted half an hour in my head. It's hard to follow anything that way. Now it's better because there are more good series. It's odd because otherwise I have a pretty good memory.

I don't necessarily get lost, but I do have a very hard time staying interested. Interpersonal conflicts are annoying and disinteresting to me in large part. And since most sows/movies are carried by this, it's hard to watch for me. Only when the conflict mirrors one I've experienced or witnessed closely can I be interested. It's then relatable for me. When that happens I typically love the movie or show.

For me even if I am lost I enjoy the movie because I am using my special interest WRLL.

I don't usually get lost watching movies per se, but I easily get lost in other thoughts only to find that a lot has happened while I wasn't paying attention. That happens quite often when I'm watching or listening to something. It happens when I'm reading too, but at least the books wait for me....
