Haruhi Suzumiya: Autistic traits?

Of course the author's said nothing, but it's apparent that Haruhi Suzumiya has significant autistic traits.

Probably the most notable for me was in the TV episode "The Melancholy of Haurhi Suzumiya II"; at the beginning, when Kyon walks into the room, Haruhi notices him and has a big grin on her face; she moves in very close, forcing Kyon to step back a few steps and then launches into how she wants to find a "mysterious transfer student" for her group that Kyon is also part of, the SOS Brigade. Kyon begs her to establish the context of conversation before launching into her topic, but she continues barreling on about this mysterious transfer student she so wants to find. Here, she hits on several points in autism spectrum disorder.

Until she drills Kyon and the others into the SOS Brigade, she has no friends and engages in bizarre behavior on a regular basis. But she seems to get better with the support she gets from the SOS Brigade, which is still consistent with ASD.
