I can often be found hanging out in my local pub. I enjoy socialising with people I know over a beer or two, and I'd rather go out to do it, as that way I can head home if I get stressed or I've had enough. If people come over to my place, I have no escape route, and I have on occassion been very rude to friends who have come over to my place and stayed longer than I was expecting (I thought I was hinting subtly that it was time for them to leave, apparently I was obnoxious
)
I like small pubs, but dislike large wine bars and wetherspoons hangar-sized places as there is too much background noise for me to hear what people are saying to me. I often sit in a pub with my bf, both of us reading books or newspapers or doing puzzles. Sometimes I will go to the pub to chat with mates. Sometimes I sit by myself with a puzzle book - the only drawback to that is that people are curious about the puzzles I do and come up to ask me what I'm doing - and if I'm doing puzzles I want to concentrate and not constantly be distracted by people trying to make conversation or make jokes! They don't mean any harm though and because I am in my local frequently I know lots of the regulars anyway.
