Hi to anyone reading,

Does anyone have advice for jobs or work for someone who has unexpected bad days mentally. I can never plan ahead where my mental health will be each day never mind each week.
Does anyone else have this problem but happen to find themselves a job where they just get into the swing of things no matter how bad their day is.
I'm physically capable and can work hard but I never know when a bad day might happen.

I'm considering applying for Deliveroo at the moment. That's the only job I've seen so far with completely flexible days and hours. I'm focusing on getting my cycling fitness up at the moment. 20 miles in one day is my recent record though I need to practice getting up hills.

Regards,
Stefan

The only job that I can think of that would fully cover random and intermittent days off would be if you were self employed.

Some jobs come with sick leave and there are usually set procedures for taking days off. As I understand it, Deliveroo is a delivery service and while they offer their employees flexible hours, this flexibility would not include having anyone be a no call, no show on a date and time that they were expecting that person to show up for work.

From what I have read online, Deliveroo offers sick days. One former employee posted via Glass Door that he would text his manager if he was sick. Although this was initially accepted, in time the manager began asking for documentation to support sick leave such as a doctor's note or proof that he had seen a physician.

As a former manager in the food service industry, I can understand mangement's concern. Last minute texts saying that an employee can't work make it challenging to find a replacement and ultimately adds to everyone's workload. Repeated use of days off would also foster concerns about an individual's long term reliability.

I don't believe such a job exists.

Imagine if you work at McDonald's, somebody wants a burger, and you refuse to serve the person because you're having a "bad day?"

Probably being self-employed would be the only way around this, like ChefDave said.

Jobs that don't involve interaction too much

This is what I need. Well, eventually.

In my town, there's a company in competition with Uber that allows you to turn on when you're available to work. (I don't know if Uber is similar but I've heard dodgy things about them.) My car is too beaten up plus I find driving exhausting.

Sometimes there's jobs like court transcription that you take home and are paid by the word.

There's sites where you can bid for odd jobs, not sure what the pay rate is like, probably abysmal.

Self-employment... looks good... pity it's generally got a shite per-hour rate, and it's not for everyone, nor can everyone make it.

Edit: Oh and I've tried sex work... wasn't for me. People skills. I know some disabled people do it successfully though, usually great pay per hour.

My son writes articles in English to earn some money. He doesn't have a timetable, he justs picks a topic that's been requested, writes it, posts it, done. He can do it all the time or not do it at all for weeks if he wants to, although the latter isn't appropriate if you are living by yourself.

I think I could do that. How did he get the job? What website?
