South Park vs The Inbetweeners

I love both of these shows, and somehow I can't help but compare the similatiries between the two that I thought I'd share.
The characters in The Inbetweeners have similar personalities to those in South Park. It's like the Inbetweeners is a British version of South Park, plus non-cartoon.

Cartman - Jay, because both are manipulative, selfish and bully-type
Kyle - Wil, although Kyle isn't a geek like Wil, I still think the two are similar in some ways like moralty
Stan - Simon, because both are obsessed with a girl and just seem to have similar personalities
Kenny - Neil, because neither of these two worry about much and also Neil is the poorest out of the 4, as is Kenny
Wendy - Carli, obviously

I wonder if the writers of The Inbetweeners got inspired by South Park.
