Has anyone seen "August Rush" yet, it's a film about a musical prodigy, anyone else think he depicts someone with aspergers because he's shy, limited facial gestures, deep and hypersensitive and a genius!

or is it just me?

great film by the way, I had to hide my tears at the end as all the kids in the cinema would've laughed at me, i'm 25 years old, still a kid though myself :)

asperger and autism is just a label to control you, you are capable of anything

Hi, thank you, that's a nice thing to say

i agree, it's an umbrella isn't it? When the rain comes down, you open up the umbrella and wait until it stops raining. A shelter mindset, for when you're down you cling back onto it for things to make sense again.

Hi, I went to an independent theatre the other day, and I saw a poster for this movie. It looks really interesting. I must admit, I didn't know what it was about. Now that I do know I will check it out. Thanks!

This character surely does not meet any of the most prominent characteristics of autism. August actually connects with the other characters in the story quite easily, communicates with everyone very well too. Not only that, his facial expressions are not hindered or flat by any means, he consistently has an extremely expressive face, almost throughout every minute of the story. The only time his face is flat, or stern, is when he’s laying in bed at night, confronted by a bully at the boy’s home. But he still responds to the bully, and is truly fearless all the while. All in all, August Rush does not typify any major characteristic of autism. But he is bright, almost beyond measure, and shows himself to be an amazingly loving and responsive child.
