I would have posted this earlier but I was having login problems for some reason. Anyway me and my husband have been telling doctors, caseworkers, etc... About out situations in order to try to get help. But somebody went as far as calling adult protective services about our welfare. They called me yesterday saying they were coming to our address today... My uncle overheard the conversation and freaked out and expressed concern they would red tag his home. So my uncle doesn't want us to talk to them anymore and he and his sister are going to block entry into the home. A social worker told me later however that this would just make the situation 10 times worse.

My uncle doesn't want to loose his home (again, a previous property of his was red tagged) but at the same time having that fear in the first place is kinda telling of the fact the old trailer probably shouldn't have anyone living in it in the first place... I have lots of anxiety now.

I hope this turns out okay for you all - but especially for you, Angnix, because you are a good person I know well, and the uncle, husband, and now the aunt, are people I don't hear from.

But maybe this intervention will result in you getting a decent outcome, like affordable housing.

Who is the "identified victim" that is to be protected by adult protective services? And what does "red tagging" mean?

I like you, too, Angnix.

I hope your uncle doesn't resort to drastic measures.

I hope things go well for you today.

Please keep us in mind when you need to talk.

I wish I could give you better advice.

I haven't experienced much of what you've experienced.

But I know you're a sincere person. And I want you to succeed decide the barriers placed before you.

Red tag means declaring the premises unfit for human habitation which means you have to move immediately.

That's crazy! Is there anything you can do to make it more habitable?

I'm just asking this with the intention of providing some sort of alternative. I'm asking out of naivete.

Trailer mainly needs a bunch of repairs to bring it up to code. If I get employment and I still live here I would probably pay for it.

I like that you are being proactive about your situation. It's a good sign in a person.

Okay, my husband and I will be here when they come, but my husband hopes they take us out of the home. I don't think this is the best idea though because though family doesn't always treat me right, for some reason my husband is trying to totally turn me against my family and it's starting to worry me. My uncle wants to convince them we are fine but my husband will argue we have to leave... I'm caught in the middle of this.

I wouldn't worry about it. My girlffreind's aunt is a major hoarder with barely any room to walk around at all & she had a relative living with her with major medical issues who was confined to the bed because there wasn't any room for her to use her walker. Adult Protective Services came & did nothing. They saw no issues with he home or the woman needing to be in a better environment.

When it comes down to a place to live, being caught in the "middle" of this really sucks.

I wish your husband would use common sense. Where would you go if you "leave?"

I just wish you could just get of this screwy situation.

That turned out better than I thought. Lady explained to my husband that we simply can't just "leave" but in the meantime they will connect us to services to help us here like home repair, exterminator, etc...

I was a bit concerned though when the lady showed up escorted by a police officer! Uncle told me later cop was one of his personal friends... Lol. My husband started telling the cop random stories (husband rambles, rambles, changes story mid story, etc, lol) Lady asked if I had a car and I was thinking the cop would ask for license, registration and insurance when I said yes it's right there, lol., I do have those things... I really wish car insurance wasn't so expensive in this state though, lol

Adult protective services visits may be triggered by reports of domestic violence, so it's just a safeguard to have a cop come along. But I do understand how it can make you suddenly paranoid! Every time a siren starts behind me I check my speed and get all nervous.

My husband rambles a lot too. :)

Worst cop pull over story was when I was borrowing a relatives car and I was all the way down in Texas! Michigan plates look suspicious there or I made a mistake ior something. I didn't know even if the insurance was up to date... To make it more horrible they asked who the car was registered to and I said the wrong person... They kept me on the side of the highway for like half an hour but let me off in the end with a warning...
