I found a good job to apply to... But other than the fact I have in-laws that live in Jersey I think NYC would be a relocation nightmare... But my experience and background and degree were a perfect match for the job. Grrrrrr.... I have only seen NY from across the water on the Jersey side!

No, you should quit applying to cost-of-living nightmares. Unless the salary is damn good.

A bird educator is not payed very much... Ehhh, I should stick to the local AmeriCorps positions, I got an interview already for one and two others I just talked to a couple days ago and I think the guy is interested. They don't pay much but it would be added to my SSI and my husband might be getting his soon so it would actually add up.

And I know about the cost of living, my Jersey niece pays a ridiculous amount of money for her tiny place!

I applied to an AmeriCorps VISTA position yesterday and they contacted me for a phone interview this morning now set for Wednesday! Wow! This one would require a move within the state but VISTA positions pay a relocation allowance... Viable option? I still have the local interview tomorrow.

VERY viable option! Your husband could still remain with his current doctors, although it would mean a trek. Plus you would get out of that situation with your flaky relatives ... and relocation is paid. So yes, very viable.

As you interview for these positions, casually let it be known that you are also being considered for other openings. That automatically increases a person's desirability.

It's far enough away where it would require a doctor change, to give you an idea it would require moving from South Michigan to northern lower peninsula. The local position, about half of my husbands doctors are in that town, in fact I have to leave from the interview tomorrow and go across town to a Dr appointment...

That was complicated, the Seattle position wanted me to fill out a form to schedule an interview in the next two days and I already got two interviews in that time frame! I had to calculate a time zone difference and make sure I wasn't scheduling on top of another interview! I did mention I was scheduling around other interviews to make myself look in demand and I wasn't lying!

And the Seattle position is putting the pressure on me because they said they are making hiring decisions at the end of this week!
