What kind of accommodations do you have (or would you want)?

If you get accommodations at your job and don't mind sharing, what are they? Or what kind of accommodations do you feel would help you if you don't currently have any?

A DOOR!! !! I would do just about anything for an office with a door and my own light switches.

I literally took my current job largely because most people had Japanese paper folding screens covering cube doors. Too bad mine was taken away months ago with a vague reference to the Handbook, and when I asked for clarification (Handbook just said "don't use excessively" and I'd only used 2 consecutive days of crunch time when it happened) I was told it was a great question, but then got no answer. Meanwhile other departments get to keep theirs...

I'm retired now, but at my last two jobs, I requested a shortened work week due to fatigue issues. I worked 32 hrs a week. This was a relatively easy-to-get accommodation because (a) I was paid hourly and so the company didn't have to purchase anything, and (b) I was high-performing, so that I did almost as much work in 32 hours as (some) other workers did in 40.

It's something people with autism might want to consider asking for, since the masking we do can be so exhausting.

A double bed for my carcass, a free bar with keg font serving my favourite coffee stout, and some breakfast. You did ask. It does annoy.

Are you not so fatigued now? If you can't get to a GP, ask r/medical. They might be able to aid you if you aren't satisfied. Many are proper medical doctors, medical students. They'll look after you.

r/medical is Reddit? I can't get comfortable with the format over there. Have tried a few times and I just don't like the layout.

I do ok now for fatigue. People ask me "how do you like retirement?" and I say "I recommend it!"

I was diagnosed high functioning about 3 weeks ago and they are okay if I wear headphones (cancel out chatter) and keep door closed. And they are taking me off as chair for a 15 person committee.

I’ve been testing how fast I get burned out and this was the first time I worked three days in a row since diagnosis... and last night I could feel overload... and this morning migraine nausea and exhausted. I’m home in bed today trying not to feel guilty for letting coworkers down.

They did say a shorter workweek might be an option, or telecommuting.. I wasn’t sure I’d need those but I think I do.

I am also going to apply for FMLA since I’m covered under the ADA. Even though I won’t get paid, I think having a day just for me will give me some breathing space to figure out who I really am after 47 years of masking.

I’m having a really hard time today accepting my limitations. But the suicide monster was coming back and I’ve been depressed for so long... I guess I’m trying to figure my limitations out...

Thanks for the posts. I don’t feel so crazy knowing I’m not the only one
