Not yet, they couldn’t even get their military to North America in the numbers needed nor Europe. They probably could win a war in Asia .

America, who despite accounting for less than 5% of the world's population is the world's largest arms dealer, accounts for 37% of the world's military spending, and whose military is larger than the next seven nations combined, is already at war; and has been 93% of the time since it's founding; 222 out of the past 239 years. The American military has troops in 70% of the world's nations; at least 138 countries, and drops a bomb somewhere on Earth every 12 minutes, killing more than 20 million people since WW II, 90% of which are defenseless civilian noncombatants. People die in America's imperial wars every day, but Americans don't give a s**t as long as they're little brown people on the other side of the planet.
You (and millions of other Americans) are not afraid of war per se; you're afraid of war affecting you, personally.

If any war happens, It's very unlikely to reach USA. USA regularily engages in wars outside its borders.
If someone is to fear China, I would count China's neighbours, most likely Taiwan. Do you live there?

I still don't know how will North Korea develop. Either the regime lessens over time, or it explodes some day. Ten million people in Seoul have some reasons not to feel safe.

And of course there are wars now. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_o ... _conflicts

I myself do keep in mind that in case of a big war in Europe... I'm in the middle of European Lowlands. This is where frontlines go. I know the probability of it is not great right now but there is a thougth on the back of my mind that it is not completely impossible. I'm living in an unusually peaceful period for the region, it may or may not last.

Not in all cases racist. The USA was relatively unaffected industrially by WWII and so we have been called upon to protect and preserve the rest of the free world in the power vacuum created. We don't have to apologize for that.

Warning: Possible triggers in reply.

The outcome would depend greatly on how the war was raged. If you are talking a nuclear war, the answer is that no one wins. The damage to either country would be to high to declare a “winner”. The majority of the population would die in the process. It would reduce the majority of farmlands into radioactive deserts, so no food could be grow there for quite some time. Some people would live, but what quality of life would be left for them?

China could not directly invade the US without using a large-destruction weapon for distraction of the home forces. True, they have more military numbers and larger numbers of weapons. But, the US has a few surprises built up if that was to ever happen on US soil. That would prevent most of the invasion if it was only done by one country. All bets are off if multiple countries jump into the fray though.

If you are talking a technological war, the advantage is in China’s hands. They could cripple the US power grids with the use of EMPs, reducing most electrical devices into worthless junk. This could be done from afar. We could do the same to them, but part of their country is not dependent upon electricity, which means life would go on unaffected there. Our economy is tied greatly into the power grid so the loss would be ours.

If you were talking biological or chemical weapons, the US has a slight advantage in this area. However, that would put us at odds with the rest of the world for using them in the first place. There are biologicals that have been developed that have no cure. They are basically a last resort weapon, as everyone would be a target eventually. The only winner is to not use them.

War is bad anyway it is done.

China has been tooling up for years, the militarization part of their industrialization, they realise that they have more to protect now and have started benefiting from military/industrial espionage, though some of their hardware is still crap.

Those islands have been disputed for decades. China want them to control the South China sea and it's trade, but with it also comes a strategic position in the region.

In comparison to Russia which has an economy based upon Cirrhosis, Dash cam videos and Malware, China actually has a chance of becoming a superpower, as long as it focus on the long run, as of now it would be slaughtered by NATO.

They have ONE aircraft carrier, they are probably going to use if for power projection in the Africa region to protect their investments and many nationals that live and work there, they have invested heavily in natural resource extraction, mostly in countries where democracies don't want to go.

For the moment, China has a long way to go before they are a threat and their focus is mostly for their own interests, if they ever should launch a nuke or anything towards a western country they will be utterly destroyed.

I'm not saying there couldn't be skirmishes, like some proxy war in the Middle East or Africa, but an all out war - unlikely.

Yeah, the bottom line is let the people in Middle East and Africa worry.
They do anyway.

Normaly Im not afraid of war if its just threats being made. But I overheard my uncle talking today about his friend that works in China. He said theyre preparing for war. They have little islands with defence building up. Supposedly with the US and the U K. Thats what I heard.

How do I not be afraid of this and where would be a safe place to move?

There is nothing to worry about.

China has been building artificial-islands in the South China Sea for years now - but it doesn't really mean anything.

All this talk of "war" mainly has to do with a CEO of a company called Huawei being arrested and detained in Canada for violations.

It has annoyed China and so they've been mouthing off to the US and Canada.

But China's economic-prosperity is interlinked with the West in such a fragile way, that a war would destroy their economy and also their civilization.

Because of this, China does not want a war.

Military build-up however, has been a standard practice in multiple countries for decades and doesn't mean anything.

It's just rich bureaucrats verbally-dissing one another.

Everything is going to be okay. Relax. :D

Can you do anything about it?
Seriously, though. Unless and until something actually happens, it doesn't do much good to worry about it. All that's going to do is give you an ulcer. Believe me, I know.

More to the point, would we even know if it was China?

Some people said y2k was the end of the world

The end of the world has not happened yet

You can't stop it

So why not worry about the Maslow's hierarchy

Here and now

Worry about ways you can improve your life

Work, friends, hobbies.. do something that might help yourself

The US cannot be depended forever. Japan must continue its self defense improvements, and rest of countries of Asia need to develop more and increase their defenses to prepare for future. China currently showing itself to be arrogant and expansionist threat. Similar to USA attitude in 1800’s. So Japan, India, South Korea, Philippines, Mongolia, need to defense coordination, to prevent new rise of Chinese Imperialism.
