I feel very disillusioned about my country

Maybe if you're actually FROM the midwest. I get the feeling I would be looked down on anywhere I went in this country.

I don't fit in anywhere. Not even in the south. I don't wave an American flag in one hand and the Confederate flag in the other. I hate both flags!

I wish I could rule my own country. My national symbol would be a peacock and a phoenix standing side-by-side. The peacock would hold a red rose in its talons and the phoenix would hold a white rose.

Anybody like how I compared the Lannister's lion metaphor from Game of Thrones to the American Bald Eagle?

Here's an interesting fact about American Bald Eagles. The oldest eaglet is always the most dominant and will act aggressive towards his or her sibilings and will even kill them.

Kind of like royal heirs in ancient times who murdered their own brothers, sisters, and cousins over the throne.

Ironic, huh? If the USA was a house in Game of Thrones our animal symbol would no doubt be the Eagle.

Americans also invented airplanes. They fly in the sky, like eagles.


I wonder if all countries take on the traits of their national animals without realizing it?

Canadian here, I've never lost anyone I've loved to a psychopath teenager, so I'd say we're doing fairly well.

Good for you. Me I lost my aunt to her psycho abusive husband when I was just a baby. After he killed her he stuffed her in a garbage bag and set her trailer on fire trying to "dispose" of the evidence. Luckily he's serving life in prison. And thank God we weren't living in Canada and he was not a minor under the age of 18.

I guess America ain't all bad. At least we actually try to punish murderers.
