How do you find a job if you're blind?

Im very scared of becoming blind in the future, and maybe i will become blind. Then im not only autistic, but blind too. That is why i ask, what job could you get if you're autistic and blind? Or would that be nearly impossible? Dles anyone here too, fear becoming blind, and as a consequence will never be able to live a fullfilling live?

I was born close to being legally blind but the ret*d docs didn't figure it out till my senior year of high-skewl. They thought I was lying when I said that the glasses didn't help much cuz I didn't wanna wear them. I didn't wanna wear glasses cuz they barely helped with my distance vision & there was a trade off of making my close vision worse. I just found it easier to do things up close. I also have some colorblindness. Anyways... After high-skewl I went to a training center for people with low vision or who were blind to learn life skills. Some of the staff members there were blind like the woman who taught me brail which I never used since so I don't remember any of it, & the guy who taught computer stuff. There are computer programs for people with poor vision or who are blind that speak things to you so you might could get a job working with computers or you might could get a job at a training center for people who are blind or majorly visually impaired. Also the Social Security Administration considers blindness an automatic disability meaning your almost guaranteed to get SSI or Social Security Disability assuming you meet the income & resource requirements to be found disabled. My problem is that since I'm close to being legally blind but not quite, I have to do all the paperwork every 3 years to redetermine I'm still disabled.

Why do you write skewl?

Just because it's pronounced that way by certain people on TV shows like Cartman on South Park.

Is this a realistic fear - like you have a diagnosed ailment that generally leads to blindness, or a strong family history of blindness?

Or is this an unrealistic fear - a phobia - no real basis for it but the fear of it haunts you, anyway?

If you have a strong drive to work, you probably could still do so with suitable accommodations. For instance, I have known two blind attorneys, who practiced using either a very large enlarging device, or OCR-to-speech type computer programs.

But if you haven't been working even though sighted, this probably doesn't apply to you. You should just take the disability money and not look back (once you qualify due to blindness).
