Sly

Based on your post, you were 31 in 2013

Plenty of members on wrong planet are older than you and single

What is so bad about being single?

What is so great about marriage?

Maybe marriage is not as awesome as you assumed it was

I was 24/25 when I joined here. Recently turned 31.
Most of them are depressed about it too. Quite a few have never found anyone either, not exactly something to look forward to.

Everything when it’s not something to want. Life is empty alone for me.

I don’t need to be married to have a relationship, i dont know if I’d ever get married or care if I didn’t, I just want a relationship with someone I love and who loves me.

Maybe being a billionaire is t as awesome as we think, but it probably is, I don’t see many billionaires trying to become poor.

No but several "rich people" commit suicide. Studies show money helps with happiness to an extent. Above $75,000 a year it doesn't matter. Not everyone can get or keep a job that makes that much though.

Sly, I think you're doing the right thing trying to meet more people. If you could do something to make you feel a bit more confident and happy with yourself you'd probably have more success on the dating circuit. Or so I've been told.

1000 days of weightlifting is a long time to wait to start dating. That's three years. Plus weightlifting isn't as simple as "repeat these three or four exercises until you're big". It's extremely complicated and requires precise coordination to avoid injuring yourself, disciplined dieting to properly fuel your muscles while avoiding gaining fat, perfect sleep patterns to facilitate muscle restoration, competing with strangers for equipment at the gym, and lots of time.

I'm cursed with a slim frame. There is no way for me to ever look impressive. Weightlifting is an enormous amount of effort for incredibly slow results. Never mind the fact there are countless buff/fit guys that still get nowhere with women. Ever heard of gymcels?

Sly can at least lose the excess weight simply enough. I have to stay strong for work, so I can't afford to go into a calorie deficit to get rid of my stubborn belly fat. I need strong muscles.

Long story, but please read.

Weightlifting doesn’t have to have the goal of getting “big” muscles- just strong, supportive muscles. I’m a physically disabled senior and I teach fitness classes to other, generally older, seniors. I exercise to reduce pain and to stay independently mobile.

You can start off doing the exercises isometrically (empty handed) and work your way up using hand weights. Bottles of water or soup cans are great hand weights. You don’t need expensive equipment.

But there is more to exercise than looking good to others. You want to keep your independence. You need sturdy leg muscles to get up from a chair by yourself. Do you want to have to have somebody help you up from the toilet when you get older? You need strong arm muscles to help you get up from the floor if you fall down.

I never specifically exercised when I was young. I walked a lot and was on my feet a lot for work, but I hated exercise classes and didn’t go. It never would have occurred to me that I would end up teaching fitness. I had to retire in my early fifties because of disability. I was using a cane or walker to get around.

I started exercising in senior classes. They let me in under age. You don’t have to go out to class. Look up “strength and balance” exercises for seniors on the internet. Ten minutes at a time, three times a day is a great start. If you live in a two story house, go up and down the stairs briskly and carefully a few extra times a day.

Do it for you! No one else. Improved muscles won’t be visibly noticeable at first, but they will be there under your chubbiness. I’m sure it will bring a smile of joy to your face when you can stand up straighter and keep your shoulders to a wall. Or to bend over or squat down to pick something up (like your cat!) and to stand right up again without support.

I know you talk about not wanting a long life if you don’t have a partner. But what life you’ll have, you should want to be able to function independently. Your sister is your mothers care giver. Would you want to need her to care for you too? If you make your muscles stronger, even slower, you’ll lose weight. You’ll have a reason to be proud and your pleasure and confidence will show to others. And THAT is attractive!
