$70 gone:-(
Thank you for the information. I don't know anything about California Medicaid standards. And I don't know how much money he gets from SSDI. Too many unknowns yet. Thanks.

He's gotten some money this past year from his brother's estate, which he probably has to declare as income, since there's a "paper trail." I don't know how much.
I would estimate that he gets about $12,000-$13,000 per year from SSDI. I know of a person who gets about $950 a month from it. I hear about people getting $1,100 per month or so. He gets his SSDI payments in weekly (or a little more often) increments of about $150. I believe five times a month. It's a weird sort of arrangement, it seems to me. I believe the "payee" gets a "cut."
...I need to stay here now
, certainly if something better for an't come along - UT it's depressing
. Looking at the side of my bed, I see my crutch - it reminds me how I need it
. What maybe really hurts me about being crippled isn't as much the walking slow - as the difficulty with getting up from the ground, it being super-hard for me to get up from the ground
.
This place, compared to the other shelter they want me to go to, let's you stay in if you need to, and it's at least within a bit of a walk from some places, but it's dreary, lying in this dark room much of the time fiddling with my phone - .though not having it would be worse - and I can hardly read, and the 2 or so pills I get daily are I think excessive
.

SSDI depends on how much you made or your parents made if they are retired or dead. It can vary from a few hundred to over $2000/month.
Your description of how he gets paid is a situation when a company is the rep payee and they do take a cut. In my area it is about $40/month. It prevents the recipient from over spending. But if he is only getting $150/week, where is the rest of the money going? It is so easy to take advantage of people.
Distributions from an estate also are reportable income. At least in my state.

ASS-P: There are a lot of options, some of which may suit your needs. I did email you directly, but have not heard back. Do you prefer to post on the forum, or do you want to do it by email. I just need to know.
Just FYI, I know it is not the same when it is temporary, but I recently broke my ankle and "suffered" many of the indignities that people with physical disabilities deal with. I worked really hard to say to myself: Thank God I have a wheelchair so I can get in and out of the house. Thank God I have crutches so I can move from room to room.
I acknowledge it is easier when you know it is not permanent, but it does work.
This is very important. You can't move forward if you focus on the things that are holding you back. Instead focus on the things that can move you forward.

...Maybe the person who raped me should have killed me. Maybe I was meant to die then. Maybe my parents didn't love me after that. Maybe I became " a punk " after that. I have never been allowed to collapse in someone's arms and howl and cry about it - if I had some cash m, maybe a prostitute - not to have sex, just to cuddle and cry
. And yes, I'll bet the person who raped me got to go to college! ![]()
