Well my dad went out to california a few months ago, and was staying with his sister out there for a time. But from there he went up to the burn area in California to try and help, also he is trying to find what to do with his life now he doesn't have much going for him. He's pretty much homeless.

So he posted an update about going up there, even took some pictures and videos of how it is out there. So I know he made it there and he said he had been helping at a church that is helping people in the area, and I think I figured out what church so I know where he got to. But its been a week since he has posted anything else, and he doesn't have a phone with minutes he just gets on facebook when he gets internet access. I just hope he's doing ok, I know he went up there to help but I hope he didn't end up in a bad situation himself. But he did imply he may not be able to be in contact very much for a while so he's probably doing ok just hasn't gotten an opportunity to give any updates. But I guess it is just hard not knowing for sure if he's ok or what's going on...where with my mom I know where she lives, she has a working phone so I can always just call or visit her, but with my dad its not so easy.

I mean I did kind of thinking about contacting the church I think he was helping at, just to see if he's still helping there or whatever...but maybe that is a little hasty since its only been a week. But I still feel like its an idea if I don't hear back for him in a while. Does anyone here think that is a good idea...or a stupid idea?

How often does he usually contact you? Has this been longer than usual?

If it's been longer than usual then contact the church. If indeed something has happened, and I hope it hasn't, then he can get help asap that way. If he's fine you just look a bit overprotective and silly.

I'd prefer to look silly.

It depends, he doesn't always have a reliable phone so I mean there have been times I haven't heard from him in much longer. I guess its just I know where he went and that things are rough there so I just hope he's taking care of himself I suppose. But yeah I suppose if I don't hear back in a while I could just send a messege, worst case they have no idea who I am talking about, best case maybe someone gets back and says he was there or is still there and I just look kind of silly going through all that effort.

Maybe, it would make him feel good to know you were checking that he was OK.

I was thinking the same thing. At any rate, I don't think trying to find out is a stupid idea, not at all. As you may know, I have great worries about my husband. When we care about someone, we naturally want to know they are okay.

Well good news, my aunt posted a picture with my dad she went to visit him...and he's still out in california in the burn area. I guess he's staying in what looks like a sort of tiny house/shed out near that church but he looks to be doing good and is still out there doing what he can to help. So yeah I am glad even though I did not hear directly from him, that things are working out so far for him there.

It's something you could do just to put your mind at rest. I doubt that he or anyone else would mind.

Edit: just read the last message!

Glad he’s okay and he’s able to help out.
