Some Bad News. The Last HST's A Few Days Ago

I don't know if anyone else can understand this. I am feeling claustrophobic inside like I want to cry. It is a strange feeling... I have just been to to Youtube and a few days ago was the last High Speed Train service to leave Paddington, which basically means the last HST. While as a train lover I was not really so interested in HST's after they painted them in different colours to the lovely yellow/blue and grey they first came in, but tears are at my eyes as I feel like the world is moving through time and the familiarity that I know and can cling to is collapsing. It is like a rug being pulled out from beneath ones feet sort of feeling.
Yes, I am sad, but also feels... I hate such deep changes. I want to go back in time. I don't like it that things change. I hate it! I hate it! I hate it!
I would not normally talk about my feelings like this apart from to my Mum, and then not often as I feel a little embarissed. I realize that change must happen, but those trains have been re-engined and refurbished and can keep running for at least another decade. Why? Sorry....
It is like life is changing and I'm not ready for it. Sorry... (I am ok. I am fine. Just sad and in a state of shock as it has just dawned on me that things may never be the same again...)

Why are they phasing out the high speed trains in England? It seems in the States that several high speed train lines are being proposed as one of the solutions to global warming.

It is an individual class of train. Not the principle of high speed trains. I remember watching them as a child when they first were used and the whistling noise the original engines made. I believe it was around 1977 ish when I first saw them from the garden of where I used to live. I just can't believe that this is the end of them. It is like I have lost a whole slice of my life somehow... A bit like when a close relative has died like when my dad died. I know it is not quite as severe, but it is a loss of familiarity.
Is also a great shame as back when I was on the railways they were installing brand new engines so they would last at least 25 years and the engines were the latest environmentally friendly engines. It was about 2006 to 2007 this was done.

I used to have a special interest with a bus service I get regularly, and one day (back in 2010) a new company took over the service overnight, and there was all new drivers operating it. I was devastated, and I grieved for days as though I had just lost a loved one. Other people said "oh, it's just a bus" and "at least it's still running", but it was a bit more important to me than that. I had gotten attached to the drivers I saw regularly, and seeing them every day felt like a part of my life and it made me happy.
But this story has a happy ending, as I started getting attached to all the new drivers, and now, 9 years later, I'm engaged to one of the drivers and I work at the bus depot!

So maybe you might find yourself becoming attached to a new type of train or something. I know it seems impossible now, as you're still upset, but your mind will start adapting to the loss and you may start to like a new class of train. Sorry, I don't know much about trains but I do know how you're feeling.

Thank you so, so much for the reply. I am so wound up inside but I have my eyes beginning to tear now so it is good. It is release. Though I don't want to cry incase my nose closes up. I am fine. It just hit me earlier. I am so glad that I am not alone to think in this way. Somehow, it wasn't just the train but a whole scene of life has changed and gone and I can't get it back. That's what hit me.
