Hello
i was wondering if anybody had watched any of the new Netflix expose documentaries on "The Family"
which is about a secret society of wealthy people who have made a society to help them "do JC's good work"

I just watched the first episode and found it quiet interesting and a little creepy.
There was a bit where a leader of some of the newly converted asks the kids if one of the exclusive members (referred to as the Chosen) were to have been known to have raped 3 children, how would they treat that member?

And obviously, some of the group explained that they wouldn't like such a person.

To which the guy replies, that he wasn't there to Judge, but to support anyone who has the label of the chosen.
I guess must have missed that part of the new and old testament where God and Jesus tells to cast out those who are wiked of heart and mind....

Still, an interesting 1st episode that leaves with a lot of unanswered questions. More interesting info to come i think.
All a bit scary when it comes to the totalitarian logic that the past leader appears to be into.

I don't know, I find some of it believable, but a lot of it BS. I find much worse influences out there.

In the preview they show Obama but one would think an alt right organization would hate LBGTQIA+ laws being passed.

I heard about it.

Frankly I'd rather not watch it. I'm sick and tired of these kinds of overly cynical shows that lead one to believe that the world is completely hopeless and ruled by psychopaths.

I mean, what exactly is the POINT of shows and movies like this? Are they trying to make everyone paranoid about the world or what? It's reminds me of the way fake news works. :|

I haven't seen this one, but I do sometimes watch such movies, although I prefer more serious documentaries. Not everybody takes such things as personally, Twizz - while some of the things I see can sadden me, I also think it's important (for me) to have a lucid or at least as complete as possible view of the world, so I can watch from a detached perspective and judge/form an opinion on the subject on my own.

But if this kind of stuff brings you down or depresses you, you should stay away from it, you'd be just torturing yourself.

I try to lol. But my mom loves watching these kinds of shows and movies. I think having OCD makes it worse because once I see something on TV that really bothers me I can never get it out of my head. :(

You should really do something else when she's watching, it's a terrible thing when you're already depressed, and I know what you're talking about, when something manages to really get to me, I keep obsessing about it too and my insomnia doesn't help with it either!
