I will have to stop driving for Uber
So I've been driving for Uber for around a month. I've done fairly well, but last night, I realized I was unsuited to the task.
I wanted to get a high minimum surge, so I sat and waited for the ride to come in. It was a short easy ride, it looked like. I spoke with the passengers about our jobs and stuff, which I do like usual. But then, all of a sudden I felt tremendously insecure and exposed, and I could tell that my talking had become very awkward. And then it was as if my awareness of the road diminished, and I had zoomed passed other cars that were stopped at an intersection where you had to yield to pedestrians. Luckily, I didn't hit anyone. At the next crosswalk on the other end of the intersection, I did stop in the middle of the intersection for one person who was crossing. We then stopped for a train, and that was easier and I could relax again. And then it was time for me to make my final turn, and you were supposed to yield to pedestrians. But I could not see the person on the skateboard, and the passenger warned me about him, so I stopped.
I wasn't sleepy, and in fact had just taken the ride after taking a pretty long break.
I stopped driving, and went home, and saw my rating went down. I anticipate they would call about me as well, but either way, if I'm having these issues I'm too dangerous to be on the road, especially at night when it's harder to see. And if I can't drive at night, I can't cover the cost of the rental and gas, and make a profit. So I'm going to drop off my rental car later today before it renews so I don't have to pay any more for it.
This sucks. I had just gone through reporting starting this job to Social Security and Medi-Cal; I guess I'll just have to tell them I've stopped.

Your post could be correct and justified
However plenty of driver's drive badly
Even commercial driver are allowed to have at fault collisions. Just how many
Nobody drives perfectly
There is no such thing as a perfect driver
This is not to pressure you to drive for Uber but please keep perspective
Even driver's convicted of running over pedestrians, in some states, just get their license revoked for one year

How often do you drive in a week for Uber and how often? If you find yourself overworking, then its a sign you may wanna just cut the hours? I also work for Uber but for Ubereats however. Maybe your best option is to try doing Ubereats instead of doing the actual Uber or do both?
If you feel 100% sure that you needed to quit and do something else, go ahead. But, don't just quit without having a backup plan, it would be a whole lot harder to go by.
