I know - he let go and that's how he got married later on.

Eeyore's story is one of beauty and enlightenment.

Well good, if that is something you are into then doing a related activity sounds like a great idea. But remember...go to have fun if you get to talking to anyone just try and be friendly and positive. Do Not do what you did with that couple at the Library and tell them your depressing life history, its just not appropriate for when you first meet people.

So yeah I mean try to make it a fun thing you are doing, forget about the crappy stuff that has happened and things that are depressing you for a little while.

You read that? I am surprised you didn’t have a reply for it.

I have heard of people meeting potential partners at these sorts of events. I wish something similar could happen for me there. I don’t want anyone thinking I no longer want a girlfriend.

What do you think of the Eeyore idea, bro?

Do you cosplay?

Sometimes people will come talk to you because they like the character you dress up as (or if they are dressed as another character from the same show).

I don’t. It never occurred to me as a social option nor was I ever encouraged to do so.

If I don’t make any new friends or find a potential girlfriend, the experience will feel like a failure.

Cosplay sounds like a neat way to engage, or you could (for simplicity) go as a background character...

Mainly, Marknis, if you want to find connections do it, but if you set the one criteria as "finding a girl friend" then you might be messing up because they'll think you're too desperate.

Good luck--I hope you can find friends, especially nerdy ones.

Would exchanging contact info with a potential friend count as making a friend? It's highly unlikely one would make a new friend just out of blue; some build up is needed.

What Anime character looks most like you?

If you dress up as an Anime character that you naturally resemble, people will be very impressed at your likeness to that character.

And you could make small talk about Anime and then that should break the ice and the conversation will flow naturally. :D

This is definitely true and will probably increase your chances. I took a picture with a bunch of cosplayers when I went to comiccon.

Yup, I cosplay and this is a way I get random people talking to me sometimes... of course, it depends a lot on from what series you're cosplaying from, 'cause if no one knows the character their attention won't be drawn to your custome unless it's really eyecatching.

And if you don't cosplay yourself, you can start conversations with people who do about the series they're cosplaying from. Just make sure you actually know something about the series instead of just knowing that particular character.

Cons are the best ....! When life energy allows always try to attend local KC one. . Those people are the best .. i always figure that 89% of attendees are some where on the spectrum. Not the sellers .. or at least 90 % are not but mostly sympathetic. Problem is if they are not at least sympathetic . They shouldn-t be attending . Am having the sillyness of not really caring too much about others opinions , of me. Just try to enjoy it. Even alone or with someone.
Get to play with my costuming scifi craft skills . As doing costumes , getting ready all year. With stuff .. and silly details of costume . Or just go to look .. and perhaps purchase a small something to memorialize the event.

I like to think , where else can you go , and if some mean person on the street bothers you going in or out ? Any number of superheroes may immediately come to your assistance , if you speak up ..!
Have made original costumes , so hard to move in 1 hour after arriving am worn out. But other dimple , steam punk stuff , can go about entire con , with only resting once a hour. Am not there for anyone but me. And have 2 outta 3 cons slways have people whom wanna get pictures with me.
And i actually did not understand this happening with me. But went with the flow. And am sure my stuff is out there somewhere , on the internet.
Not from a age of doing selfies .. but am finding it would be helpful now .
Shared various creativity can be most supportive . Have soo many times,
Wished to have had a camera of anykind to take pictures of other most amazing costume builds, anime or scifi .. etc. Merry xmas to all .

Well, I made it through two days. My friend and I had some fun moments but we decided to head back today since I feel like I’ve reached my limit and he’s feeling under the weather. I didn’t make any new friends. :(

We attended some panels we thought would be interesting, took some photos of cosplayers (though I missed some chances because I still got anxious), participated in a impromptu “Battle Pit”, watched the first two episodes of Full Metal Panic! (They had to cut off the third episode because of scheduling), and got some merch.

Sounds like a fun time--here's an idea, to roll this into your girl chasing. You now have something more to talk about when you're talking to girls.

There are stores to go buy comic books. I wouldn't buy merchandise every time I went in, but I think you could do OK hanging out in your local geeky gathering holes and making friends.

Could you try vinyl record stores? Lots of nerds like records, there's a lot of crossover.. I go to those every now and then--one time I took my portable gramophone in and listened as I was buying only 78rpm discs and they didn't have a turntable that would spin so fast. Ended up chilling with the clerk for a while chatting about vinyl, music history, the current music scene, shellac records and Edison wax cylinders, awesome music, Ruth Etting and Ada Jones, and lots of stuff.

Now if the clerk was a nice lady I could have probably gotten her telephone number. But I am already happy to have a nice friend who is a girl and with whom I like to talk, and I do not need/want a "girlfriend" really when a close friendship is best (she's absolutely wonderful!) so that's that. Also, the clerk was a guy, and as W.P.'s friendly resident quasihomophobe I do not swing that way, but he did get my number (those shops keep ledgers for regular customers to write down wishes. Since early records are niche collectibles, he wanted to call me in case someone else showed up.)

Oh, and they mistook my 1928 Columbia phonograph for a gun case. Which it is not.

You're working on building your game, Marknis--time to play it. And you've got the advantage of knowing your dad & brothers are kind of gross. Play, but don't be like them, which you won't because you're better than that.

Be a regular where the geeks are. Find your kind. :D
