Anybody like to listen to old radio broadcasts?

I do, especially Alan Freed (at the dawn of Rock n Roll) and WABC in the sixties, with Dan Ingram, Cousin Brucie, etc. It's fascinating how much things cost, how people spoke, things that people bought, etc.

I also like to listen to old baseball, basketball, football games.

And, especially, old radio shows--like the Lone Ranger, Dragnet, etc. They were the Cat's Pajamas!

I bet somebody would like Flash Gordon, Inner Sanctum, Buck Rodgers.

I don't even own a radio.

Bob Dylan's Theme Time Radio Hour from a couple of years ago captured the vibe of 1950s music radio complete with period ads. If anyone likes music from the 1920s to the present, with a bit of history thrown in, you should check it out.

baseball is good on old radio. Just listen to the play by play is more entertaining then watching all the steroid enhanced players strutting around fences.

There's a recording of a Yankees-Tigers game on Youtube from 1934, when Hank Greenberg was a 2nd year player.

I love old radio shows. I am a night owl, and discovered by accident that several radio stations in range of a place I used to live had late night broadasts of old radio shows. Before that I didn't know that they were available outside of tapes at the libraries, or bought as collections from the stores. I own several sets of them, but enjoyed listening to the broadcasts on modern radio stations. Some of these shows go back to the 1930s. When I moved to a new location I made the effort to find local stations at the new address that also carried old radio shows. I moved again a year ago, and unfortunately, I only get a few radio stations now. Most of the few are sports stations, and the rest are foreign language stations, so I no longer listen to the radio on either of my radios, but I found out I could listen online when I want to. There are a number of sites that have old radio shows to listen to, as well as some modern radio stations with a web presence providing an old radio show fix to those who want to listen to them. Any good search engine can help you find the old radio sites, and can also help you find local radio stations to check out.

I like to listen to old broadcasts on YouTube. I especially like the broadcasts from the 30s and 40s. The crackling gives me a warm and cozy feeling. They also give me an idea of what life was like back than.

I have a small box set of Dimension X radio shows on CD from late forties/early fifties. Sci fi. Often dramatized versions of classic novels by the likes of Ray Bradbury. ( started listening to the Martian Chronicles) Great stuff. And our local public radio station plays classic radio during off hours like Sunday Night. Gun Smoke, Dragnet, old adventure shows, Sci Fi, variety shows in front of live audiences.

Does the broadcast from PSR B1919+21 count as "old"? Its signal takes about 1000 years to reach Earth.

Rewound Radio
Every Saturday 12-3 Eastern time they have a DJ Hall of Fame show where the play air checks from the 1960s and 1970s from various stations around the country. They play the commercials, full songs and sometimes the newscasts. Saturday 3-6, Sunday 12-3 Eastern Time they have a DJ who does a Top 40 era styled show. Holiday weekends they do specials, Memorial Day weekend is all WABC.

Not my thing.

"Queen" is much older than most people realise.

Years ago there was this radio show here called "Nostalgia" with the catchphrase "perledykk i arkivene". It featured old recordings from that radio channel, mostly sketches and songs. I listened to it every week for years. Enjoyed that show.

Queen started about 1970. They started having big hits in the early 1970s. Bohemian Rhapsody is from 1975.
