It is very upsetting to lose a furry companion. What did your parents say when they responded to you?
They eventually gave my brother a call. They were a bit shocked. They asked us how it happened, how we handled her body, where each of us was, and if we were ok.
My dad and youngest brother buried her early afternoon today. I wasn't there when she passed, but my brothers told me she had a seizure before she went.
It sounds like your dad didn't think too much of it at the time. I guess it would come as a shock to your parents.
My dog had a seizure before she went too. I didn't see it either, though I had seen her have seizures before, including one where I think she really did die because she collapsed on the floor and didn't move.
Sometimes a memorial, even a small one will help to ease some of the hurt. We put up this pretty small green wind chime with a lower pitched sounding chime in it to remember one of our dogs. It's hung above her grave in a bush. Maybe you can do something like that.
You will eventually recover from it, though these things do take time. I wish you the best of luck.
