Bed Bugs have officially ruined my life! I have to throw away everything I own, for the exception of my computers, phone, and TV. I have to throw away ALL of my furniture, all of my books, my art portfolio, and all of my life's memories. How can something so little do so much damage? 2 years after losing Mom, 1 year after losing the sight in my right eye. I don't know how I'll go on. I can't end my life, and I can't ever see being happy again. ROCK & A HARD PLACE?

Pardon me if I'm misunderstanding here, but are you talking about actual parasites found in beds, or is bed bugs another term for something else in your country?

Sorry to hear that . They're one of my worst fears. Found signs of them in a hotel room once and realized all my hotel room checking was well worth it.

My gosh, I feel sorry for you. It's one of my worst fears as well. How do you think that happened? It's the driving reason that I don't stay in hotels. In that respect it's limited my life.

Can't you call an exterminator? My understanding is that they can seal off rooms and super-heat a room to kill the bugs and their eggs. I have heard that they can crawl through electrical outlets from room to room, but exterminators are successful in most cases.

I do not see why you should have to get rid of so much that perhaps could be cleaned. I know someone who had a major bed bug infestation and all he had to throw away was bedding. After he systematically killed most of them he put diatomaceous earth around all his baseboards. Has not had any more bed bugs since. Unlike mosquitoes bed bugs generally are not disease carriers. Isopropyl alcohol in a spray bottle kills them. Alcohol destroys their exoskeleton and their eggs. Diatomaceous earth acts like a barrier they cannot get through without it tearing up their exoskeleton. I suggest doing research. There is a lot of info online and youtube videos on how to deal with them.

Sorry to hear that. As a gardener I have dealt with similar bugs by hand picking, instead of chemicals. As an Aspie I can easily create a regular routine for effectively getting rid of pests.

No you don't have to do that. Put all your papers, books, art, etc. in sealable plastic boxes with Nu-Van strips and keep them taped shut for at least a couple of weeks. (Depending on where you live, you may or may not be legally allowed to obtain Nu-Van strips yourself, you might need to pay an exterminator to put Nu-Van strips in the boxes for you.)
