I hate all these spam emails I keep getting

I didn't put this in the technology subforum because nobody visits that these days.

I don't know what to do about all of these horrible spam emails I keep getting clogging up my junk mail. I get about 60-80 a day, all from different addresses each time, that are about gambling, sex with beautiful women, or other scams. The sexual ones are the ones that upset me the most, as the subject says offensive things like "LOCAL f*****g". It's very embarrassing, especially one time when I was having trouble receiving something work-related on email and had to go to my inbox and junk mail with my boss and I had all these on there.

Even when I delete them I still get about 20 within an hour, and at the moment I am waiting for an extremely important email but it will probably just get swallowed up among these spams and deleted by accident. I can block these horrible spam emails but it won't make any difference because new ones from new addresses just keep appearing, some go into my junk email and others go into my inbox.

I've emptied my junk mail earlier today and just now I have checked and there's been 30 new spams! Why do I keep getting these???

Best thing to do with junk mail is not look at it and just delete it from time to time. As for spam that makes it into your regular inbox, you should have an option to flag it as spam so that way other emails from that address will just go to your spam folder and not to your inbox.

You can also save addresses where you expect to get important emails, so those will for sure get directed to your inbox and not end up in the junk mail folder.

I don't know of any way to totally stop spam, but avoiding looking at junk mail emails and flagging spam that makes it into your inbox can help some. Also, some email services may be better at keeping spam at bay than others, but you'd have to research that because I am not really sure what the best or worst ones are.

Go to "unsubscribe" which is in small print at the end of those emails. That usually helps. I know that you didn't "subscribe" in the first place, but somehow they got your address so it's likely you can opt out.

I know I can unsubscribe, flag or delete spams, but more keep coming from new email addresses. I must have unsubscribed to about 30 different addresses before but it just gets replaced by new email addresses. It's very frustrating. I can put up with a bit of spam, but having hundreds of these porn-type spam is ridiculous. It's not even from the same email addresses.

I would recommend NOT clicking unsubscribe, and instead just mark as spam. Training the filter is much more likely to catch it than the unsubscribe links. Which, if not from a well-known reputable company, could simple be telling the spammers that they picked an email a real person uses... And then they send more. And more.

And I wish this were in the Computers section where it belongs.

Gmail filters everything for me, including newsletters. Email would be unusable otherwise.
