You're quite right about the passion of the Saints! They tend to have been the sorts of people who got very excited about good things.

There were some likely-autistic Saints too. Look up St. Thorlak Thorhallson, and the life of Bl. Leonie Martin (about whom I am quite sure you know already.)

Not to mention G.K. Chesterton was probably on the spectrum himself though he is not a saint.

Thanks, I'm looking into them now. :)

Also every now and then the really mean posts get out of hand (where the atheist pplinsult etc) and it seems reminding ourselves that religious 'Aspies' exist is 'bringing balance to the force' and there's some space to not feel alien.

Like I don't pray the 5 prayers anymore..stopped fasting ..etc

but I put the Rumi quote in my signature ever since a member messaged me about certain threads that exist here

Thank you, I sometimes wonder and worry about going too far, mainly because of the anger issues I have. I just need to keep working on that, hopefully by the time I come back on here it'll be well sorted out.

Yeah, I can handle a lot of stuff on here, it's only again, those two issues mentioned in the OP where I really struggle with the anger. I was on here back in 2017 or 2018, I made an "Ask me (almost) anything" thread on the PPR Sub-forum, and some of the people started an Atheist debate on that thread. I was gladly surprised by how easy it was to refute their arguments, (although I'd be lying if I said the way they behaved didn't irritate me.) it was really surprising how straightforward, debating with them. Now unfortunately I had to leave the thread early because of personal problems in my life, I was enslaved to sin back then, and so needed to work on letting God and Our Lady heal me. (That's actually one of the reasons why I'm so passionate; I had a very bad enslavement to sin and so, I needed to get into a really close relationship with Jesus and Mary in order to be free from it.)

So yeah, most of the hostile content on here doesn't bother me. I'm usually more concerned with discerning how best to act or respond, which is a good thing considering what's happened.

I don't do that in private or online, for atheism...so why presume things of people who believe in God and broad brushstroke everyone? And some really rude things.

Seems contrary to the positive traits of ASD.

But then again I have done that with A group of ppl and ranted about them here (lawyers and law clerks). And broad brushstroke painted them all as evil. And everyone tolerated me including a lady I'm pretty sure is married to a lawyer.

So I'm a hypocrite about that..

Anger has been a big issue for me too.

Anyway.. Oh you should see this.. He is also Canadian, from Kingston. The blonde lady seems patronizing but other than that it's a good video.

I love this man's way of explaining things.

His family n support system seems to be very good and positive from the things I read that he wrote... Much of his support system came from his church.

Maybe I should be more of a troublemaker when I see that kind of stuff on here. Seriously though, I do try to avoid doing the same thing on the Traditional Catholic forum site I'm on and elsewhere. I remember one time we were discussing Left-wing people on that site, and one of the members there said that she was discussing this with a friend of her's and at one point her friend said something along the lines of "you know, people aren't born leftists," that resonated deeply with both her and I, and probably others on that site. One thing I want to really work on, and be very good at, is fully understanding the other person's point of view, before criticizing it. I want to treat my opponents with the same level respect I would like to be treated with, and so I should really listen to, and fully get what the other side is saying.

Among Catholic philosophers now, there is something called steelman-ing, which is the opposite of strawman-ing, you take your opponent's argument and make it even stronger before trying to refute it. It's a powerful tactic and one I do approve of others using, but with my approach of really listening and understanding to my opponents, it might actually be more respectful to just take arguments as they are, rather than steelman them. Then again, there probably are times where it's more respectful to actually steelman your opponent's argument, this is something I need discern.

Anyways, I've got to go, I'll leave with this trailer I saw this morning, of a movie made on the Fatima Apparition. This reminded me how grateful I should be to be Catholic, and how grateful I should be to Her, for bringing back to the Faith via that apparition:

Thank you so much Dear Blessed Mother! :)

I hope this movie gets featured at a movie theatre near me.

Take care everyone!

Maybe, I don't know, maybe I'm over-analyzing things here.

I made a horrible mistake on here this morning and needless hurt myself. :( I have been struggling with really really angry thoughts all day, and got very little done.

I have decided I’m going to really start my break now, I’m going to request this thread be closed. If anyone wants to talk to me, just PM me, I’ll stop by check on it here occasionally, but probably not weekly. I want to thank everyone on here who contributed to this conversation, thanks everyone. :)

I’ll see everyone later, take care.

Our Lady of Fatima, pray for me and guide me!

I'm Catholic. And I don't have the passion for the blessed mother that you have. I like her, I think she did a marvelous miracle bringing our Savior into the world. But, I'm just not feeling it the way you do. I'm much more into God/Jesus/Holy Spirit, I can't help it. That's just the way I'm wired. I think it's important to remember that even Catholics differ. That doesn't make us adversaries, opponents or enemies. It just is.
