internship
I just got an internship at a school district by my house as a Network Administrator. I am very excited yet very scared at the same time. It will be unpaid but the experience will be well worth it.
According to my school the last person that interned there ended with a full time job there which is good. The guy that interviewed me even said they need more help. But, I am scared that the district might not have room in the budget to hire me.
Another thing I am scared of is not knowing as much as I thought I did, and not doing a very good job cause I don't know as much as the other people there.
Another fear i have is if I don't get hired there, I will have to look elsewhere. I worry about this because with rising gas prices ( latest 3.19 a gallon!) the economy might decline unless something is done.
If i do end up getting hired full time at the school district I will probably have very good security and good benefits. I might move to an area near the high school so I don't have to worry about gas. Their is a really nice small town nearby that i have always wanted to live in, and with this internship that might be very well be a real possiblity.
Another problem im having is my part time job. i have lost hours at work due to declining sales. Plus my place of work is a half hour away out by my school. I will probably not be able to afford to work out there anymore.
So that means I have to start looking for work out my way. I right now work as a dishwasher, and with the many resttaraunts around here, i could probably find a similar job with the same wage I am getting now. I also worked a couple times at this pizza place by my house, delivering pizzas. The guy that runs it I went to high school with him. But again with the gas prices that might not be a possiblity. I think they do have a company vehicle I can use, but i haven't worked there in a while. I get paid under the table. I will have to talk to them to see whats up.
But in the meantime the best thing I can do is take things one day at a time. Their is no use worrying about the future since it hasn't happened yet.
Tell me what you guys think of my situation...
I think internships are wonderful.
I also get concerned about my abilities but I always manage to do the job and do it to the bosses satisfaction.
I hope that everything works out and the small town sounds nice.

"I never could get the hang of Thursdays"
Part of an internship is to build on the knowledge that you aquired in school. Take one step at a time. Once you get to know what will be expected you will feel better. As for the gas prices and jobs you will find ways to be thrifty. I get most my errands done on my route into work. I clump other errands together that are in the same direction.
hang in there.
