My younger cat, appropriately named Mischief, will sometimes start drinking from my cup of tea. I have to stop him or put my hand over my cup because I worry about what the caffeine will do to him.

My girlfriend's mom lets her two cats drink from her cup. She babysat our cat a little bit & she also let our cat drink from her cup. As a result me & my girlfriend now have to be watchful so our cat won't drink from our cups.

My cat has her own cup of water in the bath tub because she sometimes plays with the water and spills it.

They're tiny relative to our size, so even a little might be a big deal supposing they're no more sensitive to us. I know they're way more sensitive to theobromine, which is why cats and dogs die when they eat enough dark chocolate, and why horses can use it as a performance enhancing substance.
