Aspies can vary a lot with intelligence & NTs can to. I think which one is smarter depends on the specific Aspie & specific NT that are being compared. For the record I'm an Aspie who's pretty ret*d compared to my peers. I majorly struggled in school, struggle with lots of life stuff, & have the deficits that us Aspies are known for like poor social intelligence.

We're all across the board.

Typically attempts to make Aspies out to be smarter than NTs is (sometimes a well meaning) attempt to compensate for Autism itself, which is first and foremost a disability.

Yes, I quite agree, not to mention that saying aspies are smarter, denigrates the innate NT ability to function socially.

Let's not have autistic supremacists.

I agree.
Lots of things I've read about Aspies say we mature slower than NTs & our mental age is on average a 3rd less than NTs. Lots of things also say that us Aspies have more problems functioning in life than NTs. Lots of things also say how we struggle more in school compared to NTs. Judging from the 10 years I've been on this forum I would say those 3 statements I posted are correct. I suspect that in general the average NT is smarter than the average Aspie. However our inelegance fluctuates a lot more than NTs & some Aspies are very smart compared to most NTs which skews the average/figures.

The thought I get when trying to conceptualise this is two 3D objects in space:
• NT intelligence is an orange ball almost perfectly smooth from a distance, but with small surface pitting when you zoom in, like a golf ball but subtler, matt finish.
• AS intelligence is blue, and more of a pseudo-spheroid formed of conjoined spiky snowflake-form elements, and it also glitters.

No idea if that counts as a useful contribution though

The below IS NOT about the OP whom I do not believe has these motivations.

Rant:
Aspic and autistic supremacy is a ongoing virus in our community. Sometimes it is latent, sometimes it flares up.

Aspie supremacy is a form of denial, denial one is Autistic. It is sometimes used as an excuse to give up. Often the Aspie supremacist is is closer to a burnout or meltdown ie. acting “more autistic” then the supremacist likes to believe. That is not to say that a lot of the difficulties Aspies face are not the result of autistic impairments but the result of being a small minority. Unfortunately aspie supremacists have become to a significant amount of autistics the definition of people who identify as Aspie or support the neurodiversity movement.

As a small minority of the population like or not to get anywhere we are going to have to work with NT’s. Telling them they are dumb is not the way to do that. Money is going to be short for awhile. NT’s are going to react to this Aspie superpower stuff with ”if your so smart why should we give you anything, go figure it out yourself”

I don't consider myself to be exceptionally bright. I'm not denigrating myself or saying that as a means to gain sympathy. I believe I'm most likely average to slightly above average intelligence. I think it's factual that there are many NTs and NDs that are far more intelligent than I am. I've posted this in response to the OP's question: There are certainly NTs that are more intelligent than this "Aspie". Scores of them.
