How do I listen to online audiobooks for free?

I heard that they're doing free audiobooks online during this quarantine period, where you don't have to pay. But each time I try to download a free audiobook app, it still wants my card details, which deters me because I don't do any online banking.

How do I find an audiobook app or site where entering your card details is not needed?

Where I live I get free audio books through the public library. I would imagine the pay audio book providers would want to hook you in to eventually buy them if they provide them free now. They are addictive.

I think all of them will want your details for the reason stated above: the setup with Mrs K’s one is she has an account with them, and that has a voucher for one free audiobook per month, plus a second free one for the duration of the crisis.

If you want a free play/audiobook without making an account there are usually a lot of BBC radio dramatisations uploaded onto YouTube: which channel they’re located on can change about though because it isn’t really legal and there’s a cat and mouse game between the uploaders and YT’s copyright team.

Only public domain books but there's a lot of valuable literature in the public domain.

I don't know anything about apps about it, but there are some posted on YouTube.

I use three free book sites - to read/hear the books you need to first download Adobe Digital Editions.

not only can you find old titles to read (or loan), they have radio shows, music, speeches, internet pages, etc.
(I'm currently reading the old John Wyndham collection - scifi from my youth)

YouTube doesn't often have the audiobooks that I'm looking for. And I am not listening to those crappy videos of people reading the audiobooks themselves. I know they mean well, but it's just not the same.

If you have a local library, try checking to see if they have a website! A lot of libraries are part of networks that allow for borrowing digital media now, including audiobooks.
