Personally, I have a tendency to tap my foot on the ground repeatedly when I'm focusing. I don't always realise that I'm doing it. Additionally, I drum on my desk when I'm bored but usually not in any particular rhythm (or maybe I do, I'm usually somewhat zoned out when that happens). I've been known to kick the wall whilst thinking. Long periods of sitting tend to get to me. I find that taking a break to walk around can help since that's often when all my ideas start flowing. Sometimes when I'm stuck, I lie on my bed with a piece of string or a pencil and I fidget with it. Or I have my miniature basketball and I mindlessly toss it back and forth between my hands. I clear my mind and talk out loud about my ideas. Then once things are starting to click together I write them down.
Interesting..
I wondered at first if I was ‘thinking’ whilst tapping but I think I maybe just zoning out for 10 or 20 seconds whilst tapping - probably due to worrying about the virus and now the flaming protests and possible riots here in the uk
