Oh okay, but I'm already on EI now. Is that going to be a problem?
EI is backlogged so if you haven't received a cheque yet your file will automatically be switched to CERB and $2000 will be mailed by Apr 16th. (I suggest you update info for direct deposit). And then if still off in October your EI will kick in then.
If getting an EI cheque already you can apply a few weeks ahead of when it runs out.
I only make $18/hr so the CERB is actually more than I'd receive on EI - yay! If with being off I'll only pay a minimum of tax on it!
Oh okay. I feel guilty being on EI though, because they always ask if I am looking for work, where as I have been avoiding jobs, because of the virus. So should I feel guilty about EI therefore, or am I taking advantage?
