I just started watching the Good Doctor on Hulu, just finished episode 7 in season one. I'm enjoying it however it feels cliche. How realistic is this show and how accurate is Freddie Highmore's portrayal of someone with autism?

When you've seen one person with autism...

... you've seen one person with autism.

I know. I've only met two people on the spectrum, one did not have unusual speaking patterns as I recall but the other would speak loudly and extravagantly, as if he was on stage (which is appropriate I guess because he was an entertainer) and somewhat monotonously. Freddie Highmore's character speaks in the same monotone voice almost the whole time, although he's starting to broaden his range as the show goes on.
