Yep, they're here. When you make a post, there's a check-box that says "Notify me when a reply is posted"; check it if you wanted an email notification. If you want to watch a topic and not reply in it, at the bottom there's a line of text that says "Watch this topic". Click that and you'll receive notifications for it.
