There's a difference between family and children's media
Me: I'm making this picture for kids but it's tricky. People don't get that it can be hard to make things for kids.
Dad: Yeah, like star wars was really well made...
Star wars has adult fans. It's not 'children's media'. It's family, ie for all ages.
Something like Sesame Street is more what's meant by 'children's media'.
When I was a kid, the ratings didn't start at U. They started at Uc. Uc meant 'this is very unlikely to appeal to adults, this is for children'. For eg - Barney videos and nursery rhyme videos.
Not really sure why this is hard to grasp?
Tbh my dad makes me feel bad because although I don't like Star Wars I do like Lego which is another thing he's calling 'for kids'. Even though the Lego I'm working on atm has '16+' on the box.
And this is the guy who likes Disney... If there was ever an example of a family franchise, it's Disney.

(My picture was a picture of Wee Willie Winkie. It took about 3 hours to complete and I did it to the best of my ability. But very few adults who are HFA or NT would be interested in Wee Willie Winkie...)
