But you didn't read the correction, obviously. At least I admitted I f*cked up on that, but nothing else.

Here's one I forgot: Black Box Flight Recorder - Australian (1955)

Telegraph, telephone, sucessful flight, atomic bomb, some of the best military aircraft in the world. Yes other countries have lots of good inventions and inovations, but all this idle chatter just leaves me to wonder: WHAT ON EARTH DOES THIS HAVE TO DO WITH WESTERN DISCRIMINATION AGAINST CHRISTIANS??????????????! !! !! !! !! !! !! !

OK, District of Columbia then. Happy? You are wrong on everything else, though.

Yes, what has it to do with the discrimination against Christians by Westerners? Nothing, because most Europeans were Christian to begin with. The main persecution that happened was in the Middle Ages when the Inquisition tried to convert the non-believers, and during the Holocaust, when the Facist Nazis tried to wipe out the Jews. As for persecution against Christians by Europeans as such, I 'm not sure where there were many more cases if any.

If you want to look at American persecution of Christians (whites vs blacks), then that's another story.

Why does the OP think Europeans hate Christians ?

( I think the diversity issue is really about diversity of thought rather than diversity of telephones ?

I don't know but think it is probably a mistaken view. Now if they were to have said different groups of Christians hated other groups of Christians, it would have more credence.

How is American superiority an unsubstantiated myth? Is our status as a lone superpower a myth? Do you honestly not think the US is the greatest military, scientific, economic, political, and cultural force on earth? Give me a break. Not all countries are equal.

Seventeen of the top 20 universities in the world are American, as are 35 of the top 50. American universities employ 70% of the world's living Nobel prize-winners, produce about 30% of the world's output of articles on science and engineering and 44% of the most frequently cited articles.

How are these things a myth? I already told you. Read again. Its all there.

By definition, America cannot be as diverse in all these matters as the whole of europe. An area made up of hundreds of different countries, with thousands of different legends, histories, cultures, and folklore and infintely varied terrain and requirements, and a VAST history of wars, discoveries, inventions, and infinte variations on ideology and politics, from far right to far left.
NO, not all countries are equal at any one time. As I said, their fortunes wax and wane. This still does not mean that America is the "best" by any stretch of the imagination. FFS you only have a two party political system. How diverse could you possibly get? Most european states have half a dozen at least. The most definitive force behind change and diversity and a countries fortunes are dictated by the "success" of their government, and the more diverse those governments, the more chance for change, expansion etc, or loss and ruin.

What is the relevance of this to the original topic? It defines the lack of knowledge and air of ignorance (arrogant or otherwise) that exists on one side of the atlantic about the other side. The precept that all europeans hate christianity is inherently flawed by a lack of knowledge about the state of things in Europe.

Is it just in the US that it's incredibly expensive to go to university? I know in other countries students have to pay but there is something seriously wrong with the US system where people have to go into serious debt to get a degree but yet are derided as "drop outs" if they decide to leave full time education before university and look for work instead.

If education is so important, it should be made financially easier to get a degree. One possible idea that works okay in Australia is for Higher Education Debts to only be payable once a person works and is earning a certain level of income. I think the lower limit is a bit low but the idea is reasonable.

University education here in Holland is very good possible without putting yourself in big debts. America university cost is insane.

As much as it has to do with bananas, or with the topic. The topic was: why do europeans hate christians. Now you say: the western world discriminates christians. Yes, that is quite different.

This may seem 'out of left field', but I personally think Wiggerbeater is a troll; simply for the fact that even though he has been talking up America so-forth and so-forth, he is doing it in a way that is deliberately confrontationist and provocative. Maybe he CAN'T argue otherwise, either because he i)doesn't have the knowledge to back up his arguments or, ii) is too arrogant and stubborn to listen to the inverse of any argument or, iii) he just wants to pick a fight and doesn't care. I have no problem with virtually everyone on this or any forum, except maybe one or two, but they would be a very small minority, and everyone seems to be putting forward a good argument (and the one liners are generally pretty funny). Unfortunately for Wiggerbeater, he seems to be shooting himself in the foot because he won't face the facts when they are presented.

Macbeth: this argument is almost going the way of the one we all had over Remnant's tiger....

Chuchulainn: Don't apply for a position in a Big Brother house then. You won't make it past the first day.
