It's just a Chinese power-play. They cannot rule over the dead, no matter what their stupid political system says. Treat it with the contempt it deserves.

Who here could seriously see their reasoning on why they would do it if it wasn't to gain control of the principality of Tibet? It seems anyone who speaks up to them who is within swatting distance suffers the same fate as those in Tiennanmin (sp) Square back in 1989. Arrogance to the extreme.

And considering it doesn't even fit closely with Marx's Utopia (Unfortunately I don't have a copy, but I've heard the Chinese bastardized the concept).

Personally, I think that communism (Marx's utopia) is something that sounds very, very good, given an idealized version of humans and human society. Which, in practice, in reality, does not exist. Which is why communism sounds like a very good idea in theory, even to very smart and sophisticated people. But in practice, it never ends up working out well, because the human element, specifically the tendancy for human corruption to grow and propogate whenever humans rule over other humans, ends up ruining the utopian concept. In all cases. Period.

The most perfect incarnation of communism in practice that I have ever seen or conceived of is... The Borg, from Star Trek.
