What is the deal with this site's SQL repeatedly stinking?

I don't know but SQL errors sound silly. Maybe I wouldn't think they were so silly if I knew what on Earth they meant by a SQL error.

Uh yeah, but why do they happen? The errors I mean, not the sequels to the movies.

It just means that the server can't
handle the request. SQL is the language
used to make the queries.

Okay, but why can't it handle it? And what does SQL stand for? It sounds like a very silly language if it can't handle queries.

Structured Query Language

The problem's not with SQL itself,
but rather the load on the server.

These problems seem to happen whilst
nightly backup and maintainence is
going on. A time when there are a
LOT of other queries, not generated
by users, with a higher priority.

Hence perhaps, the desire for a
second server.
