If I had space to park another, I’d go buy a second motorcycle I want. But I might not have any option of a place to put another one until garage space is freed up or I move. I messaged my brother to see if he had space to slot another one in his garage a couple blocks away - probably not, but daydreaming soooo lol
If I bought another bike sooner rather than later I’d buy a 2001 Honda Goldwing. That model generation ram until 2017 so they look fairly modern still, but in 2026 it’d qualify for collector plates. Being a Honda they go forever like Civics. 1800cc of heavy highway cruiser goodness. ![]()
But if I have no place to stick it it might have to wait 1-3 years. And no; I don’t want to sell my BMW - the space I park it in isn’t physically large enough to park a Goldwing, anyways. Plus with all the recent work it’s fairly well rebuilt and should last many moons. And is just a different kind of ride.
Ideally I’d have 3-4+ totally different styles of bikes for different types of riding. Who knows, maybe eventually I will if I have the space to stick them And stick to 25 year old bikes for the cheap collector plate insurance. ![]()
But right now we have 7 vehicles for 3 people and no more parking. Although my van is out with a friend and being sold. When my dad passes, his car will be sold and his trike goes to my older brother and his truck I’ll inherit. So if I stay living here there will be more space eventually. And if I move I’ll rent a house ideally with a double garage for tools, sporting goods, and motorcycles.
But for now I’m stuck with machine day dreams and not enough parking. I know; first world problems.

No Goldwing 1800 fans here, eh? *shrug* I think it'd be a great bike to add to the stable. Big comfy couch for longer highway rides, and much more suitable to have a passenger on than my current bike. Plus at 892.9 lbs it'd be planted like a freight train. ![]()
There's a blue one like this for sale that I'd consider if I had another parking spot sooner rather than later:
Otherwise maybe black, white, maaaaybe red, but probably not yellow I don't think.
Meanwhile my twin brother has a brand new Yamaha MT-09 SP getting delivered this/next week:![]()
He'll be selling his Ducati to make room at his place. Obvi this bike is much more about Torque & speed. A friend of ours just bought a brand new Triumph Speed Twin as well. My brother figures I should go buy a brand new motorcycle.
Umm, no.. I can't afford/justify that. My brother has the budget because of his wife's income & sort-of inherited wealth. Our friend has the budget because he makes more than either of us and his wife makes way more than him. As a solo guy with only the money I earn, I can't just go (responsibly) drop ~$18-40k on a new motorcycle.. BUT, I can justify buying another old one for $5-6 grand that's only ever going to maybe depreciate a grand or so the entire time I own it.
That and the 25+ year old club means collector plates and $34/mo insurance instead of $150+/mo or whatever.

I messaged the guy with the 2001 Goldwing for sale that I'm most interested in as a next bike just to ask a few questions about maintenance history/condition etc.
My dad's car needs to be posted for sale asap. If someone wants to buy it as is, we'll sell it off asap. If it hangs around a while, maybe a few quirks will get sorted out at a shop before it's sold - it's been into a shop a few times for the same issues and they're not quite fixed.. such is the nature of people working on a 63 year old car, I guess.
If the stars align and my dad's car sells sooner rather than later and if this bike is still for sale maybe I'll hitch a ride out of town and go ride it home. ![]()

I just ran my first world parking problem by a fb friend who's husband I loaned some money so they could put a pet deposit on their place and move. (He runs a massive FB group of 11,000+ guys blah blah is how I know him.) Anyways, she said if it'll fit I could store a bike in their shed until I have a space open up.. it's about a 20 minute drive away from where I live, but, if I don't have another closer option I *might* just consider doing that temporarily if this bike is still for sale and checks out all good and I buy it.. might be a place to stash it for a while vs. miss out on buying this exact one. Hmmm - also gotta ask my uncle if there's covered space at his place 5 mins away or nah no room impossible. It MIGHT be possible there since my other uncle that lives there has been talking about getting another bike and I'm sure he'd park it indoors in that garage outbuilding so maybe could clear space for 2 or 3 side by side.
It's kinda funny thinking about what some other ppl think of all of us - depending on their mindsets and perceptions, preconceived ideas etc. Like, I wonder how many people see us and think we're "bikers," vs. motorcyclists. One of my friends said when he first came to my house and saw my bike and my dad's bike and classic car etc that he figured we were a "biker family," and had money/power via some kind of crime/corruption. Then he realized we're just working people who own motorcycles.
When we were out on a group ride, 5 of us, all family/in-laws, some guy in a nice-ish neighbourhood of hippies & yuppies asked me if we were a gang.
Umm, no, family - just out for a Sunday ride.
But hey, if I show up to collect payment for a job on a motorcycle and it makes someone decide to pay me in full in cash as agreed vs. try to stiff me because their assumption is that crossing someone on a motorcycle is dangerous to their health, then fantastic, I'll take the marketing image assist. ![]()

Damn, seller of that bike replied and says he thinks he may have just sold it but will get back to me if not. Hoping his deal isn't a done deal and falls through.. then I'll go buy it within a matter of days and ride it the 355km home.
And if it is sold I'll just keep my eye out for others the same year until I come across one with acceptable mileage/condition/price/colour etc and buy it. But this one woulda been pretty sick - nice blue colour. Still might be mine if his deal falls through!
