"Automate the police" would be a good solution, replace some officers with robots.

Ya mean ... make the movie "Robocop" into real life?

Idk if the robots are trained well they might understand about not using lethal force when it's not necessary, a skill current human police apparently need to learn.

Here is the ancient founding prophet of robotics, Isaac Asimov, discussing his "three laws".

hmm well I think it is also important to be nice to robots, lol my brother goes so far as being polite to AI, because he just figures it's better to be on the good side of it. And I at least try not to be like a demanding a**hole cause idk it is learning...and its probably best if it learns humans can be a force of good too and not just destruction and karens.

I consider the idea of defunding the police a very stupid thing to do, in general, unless you want to increase crime levels.

If you want to defund the police where you live, have at it, but don't expect us to applaud you for the craziness.

I tend to agree with you. Whilst the police are far from perfect, the absence of them only encourages crime.

There is a town in Kansas called Eastborough that has very low crime rates even though it is surrounded by Wichita, Kansas on all sides with far higher crime rates. One difference is that there are very few roads to enter the town and it is said that there is always a police car out there patrolling the instances. Furthermore, they will reportedly pull you over if you are going anything above the speed limit -- I assume they probably give at least a mile or two over. As I understand it, the criminals in the area go to lengths to avoid the town because they know that they aren't going to pay attention to the speed limits and so are almost sure to be stopped if they enter the town. I have no interest in moving to Kansas, but if I was going to move to the Wichita area, Eastborough is where I would want to move.

As a leftist (not liberal) I'm prone to believe that re-allocating won't solved the bigger issue. Because the police only exist to defend capitalism and fill prisons with people of color, I think the institution cannot be saved. Defunding/Re-allocating won't solve anything when poverty and mental illness and even skin color is criminalized. I say abolish the police, though I know it's a long shot for how things are going. Ex. Cop city in Atlanta.

And to address the Robocop suggestion. Sounds great in theory. It would kill us all.
