Control-R on Chrome on a laptop or desktop.
The “arrow going in a circle” icon at the top right of my iPhone Safari browser.

Count to 2, Reload.
Count to 4, Reload.
Count to 8, Reload.
Count to 16, Reload.
(And so-on)
It works eventually.

This is called “geometric back-off”.

It keeps from further beating up an already busy server and keeps me from getting too frustrated.

It used to be built-in to some networking protocols in the old days when flaky networks were the rule more than the exception.

Also works with the flaky Wrongplanet search feature (but you have to hit the link again instead of reload).

This problem has STILL not gone away.

Hopefully Alex has persisted in complaining to his hosting company? (Or perhaps working on resolving the issue himself, it it's within his power to do so?)

I would hate to see Wrong Planet die because of this issue going unfixed.

As of "now", and the prior two hours or so, the errors appear to have stopped - or at least, are very infrequent.

...and as of "now" I've seen just two SQL errors.

I'm not sure if this is somehow related but for the last couple days I haven't been getting all my reply notifications for watched posts. Nothing from here is going to my spam folder & I double checked my email address on here as well as turn the setting off & back on. There seems to be a bit of randomness. Perhaps I don't get the notifications if the reply is first submitted when the SQL Error happens & then the poster backspaces & tries again

I've seen one report recently about update alerts going AWOL but in that case it appeared to resolve itself.

For me, alerts are functioning quickly and correctly - they have been since an error in the way in which WP used Gmail was found and corrected, months ago now.

Hmm......I've just opened about 8 WP pages and haven't seen the error once. So I'm very hopeful that it's been fixed.

Yes this has stopped happening for me.

Got one yesterday, fixed on first reload.

WP is increasingly neurodivergent in its behavior.

Quirky but with strengths, somehow likable and unique.

I've seen 5 so far in the last couple of hours which, while much better, is slightly worse than over a similar timespan yesterday.

I have just had six or so in a row.

And another dozen or so in a row just now.

Might want to look at that "Bad Guy" angle again?
