Is Trump Trying To Create A Theocratic State?
I can't tell if Trump is naive enough to think that if he courts the religious right they won't have any demands if he gets elected. A good example of what the religious right does if it gets power is Iran. Iran calls itself a theocracy but in reality they are a religious dictatorship and stay in power by brutality I am totally befuddled how the religious right can support such an incompetent and unreligious person. I guess they will use any vehicle to gain power. I guess they feel he is easily controlled as long as you feed his vanity and ego. Do you think the religious right wants to turn the US into a theocracy?
The way I see it, he'll say and do whatever brings him attention. I don't know what his own true beliefs are, but he's certainly not serious about them, he's such an empty husk of a human being. Sad.
The Religious Right gave him loyalty. Not only that, but parts of it now practically worship him, think he is some anointed messiah for the United States. (just look at the New Apostolic Reformation movement, absolutely depraved bunch of people). This is, one has to understand, incredibly influential on an empty husk of a man like Trump. The Religious Right has essentially given him license to be a king by Divine Right.
Notice that one key part of Trump administration agendas, whether that be Project 2025 or Schedule F or whatever, is to replace all levels of federal workers with loyalists to Trump. The Religious Right, who has carefully crafted the narrative of Trump being some anointed messiah have then intrinsically tied Trump loyalism (worship) with extremist theocratic agenda within these people who are to be hired.
Under the guise of Trump loyalism, they plan to infiltrate the government and enforce their evil agenda on all of us. Trump is unlikely to care, because, as I said, he's nothing but an empty husk who just wants to be worshiped.
In the end, I would say that the Religious Right's biggest enemy is themselves. Their agenda is one that ends religious freedom and that will come back and bite them in the rear, there will be in-fighting over which particular brand of Christianity rules.
A bunch of fools. SMDH.

That aspect of of this is alarming. (being silly) Since Trump is big into television and money may I suggest a grudge wrestling match between Trump and the leader of Iran (far-right christianity vs. far right Muslim) It would draw a huge pay per view audience. (end of silliness) Joking aside when you consider putting the 10 commandments in schools and abolishment of personal freedoms its time to take these nut-jobs seriously.
It's quite obvious that you don't understand the right. That's the only way for you to say something like this. For those that support religious freedom, it's the left that is greatest threat. They want to destroy it.
I've been a registered republican for most of my adult life but I think I'm more of a moderate. The way that I see it I don't think that one side gets the other. That's what I think when considering the various things from the medias that I've been exposed to. For a dozen years or more I've been following LifeSite News and if you were to read and hear things that they've reported on in the past few weeks you likely would not come to the conclusion that they are trying to end religious freedom. Some are concerned with the party platform seeming to be less in support of the pro-life movement.

I was born and raised in one of the most Evangelical conservative areas of the US, worked a couple of years in a call center office that had Christian Nationalist clients (the stuff I saw these people actually say... It is etched in my mind forever more, and I am disgusted), and have done all kinds of research on this subject. I may not be a scholar, but rest assured I know at least some things about this movement.
The right's idea of religious freedom is twisted, it's not what they say it is. Imposing Christianity in government is anti-religious freedom. I do not see how anyone at all cannot see this. I've even began to see conservative Christians drop the whole religious freedom charade as they become more emboldened. Religious freedom is not their goal. If there are innocent conservative Christians who truly believe their cause is religious freedom, I ask them to look at who is actually leading the Religious Right movement and what their ideologies are and hope they realize how dangerous this is.
If religious freedom does not apply to all religions and non-religion then it cannot be religious freedom. I don't know what to even say... If I had to stand in classrooms for years saying a pledge that said "with liberty and justice for all", I darn well am going to hold to the principle that freedom and liberty are for all, not just some. Domination by one religion, forcing us to live by the rules of one religion... all of that is anti-religious freedom. It is antithetical to religious freedom.
What you quoted me talking about is the consequences of Christianity in government. It's inevitable that this would not only harm the religious freedom of non-Christians, but it also would harm the religious freedom of conservative Christians, because conservative Christianity is not a monolith - there is not a lot they agree on, and you think that wouldn't have overflow into ruling? Do you think that the extreme Evangelicals (like the NAR mentioned in my last post) who don't even think that Catholics are Christian are going to accept Catholic freedoms, much less rule in the end?
Evangelicals also need to realize that far right Catholics have played a large role in this attempted takeover and are already in places of power (like the Supreme Court).
These two groups won't play nice with each other forever (and understand, of course, there are more than just these two groups). Right now they think there is just one enemy they can unite against, but ultimately, they'll be enemies of each other. Something our country was founded to avoid... We're supposed to not have religion in government, we're not supposed to have any religions telling us how to live our lives. Religion is to be a private matter. You are allowed to be a Baptist, I am allowed to be a Methodist, my neighbor is allowed to be a Catholic, your neighbor is allowed to be an Muslim. A religion enforcing its rules on all of us is an affront to that freedom. (Note: I'm not saying you're a Baptist. I'm not a Methodist, either, I am an atheist. lol Just making examples here.)

Jutty1224: There are some people on the right I admire such as Mitt Romney, Liz Chaney, the late John McCain. It's the people such as MTG, Boebert, Cruz, Hawley, Gaetz who has made the right a laughing stock. It's like saying the left policies are dictated by the beliefs of AOC or Bernie Sanders
I've got to hand it to trump and his team. His biggest challenge given his incredibly poor record on personal integrity and his total lack of religious conviction was convincing republican evangelicals that he somehow represented their interests as being a pro-christian candidate. He has clearly succeeded.
I don't think he personally wants a theocratic state, he is simply using his support from the christian right as stepping stone to power.
"Sometimes God delivers in a flawed vessel" one MAGA preacher once said...citing scripture.
So thats how many MAGAs get past Trump's obvious flaws. And follow him to ...whatever promised land that they think he is leading them to.
Yes...Trump not only exploits the religious right, but the most extreme subset of that group, to get into power. Without regard to what he is setting into motion.
He's just pandering to the Religious Right for more votes.

No, he doesn't want a full-fledged theocracy, but he wants to shift America back in a more conservative or nationalist direction.
I don't see Trump as RR himself, but he doesn't hate them either and a lot of them still make up the GOP base, at least the older section of the GOP (or conservative independents). In his original 2016 run he didn't emphasize religion explicitly as much like his predecessor GOP candidates before. But it's possible that he has become more religious over time.
Many of the GOP leaders in positions are not so much conservative in practice or governing, but on paper.

Trump isn't a Christian Nationalist himself, but he certainly can tell a mark when he sees one, and he certainly sees a bunch of them in the Christian Nationalist movement. He'll use them to claw his way back to the top, just like he used everybody else he saw as marks. Funny that so many evangelicals are so gaga for him, because he himself was raised a Presbyterian, which is a mainline denomination, and it's been alleged that he's personally an atheist.

An interesting read on this topic was penned many many Years ago by a man named Robert Heinlien. Aircraft engineer turned writer . a almost Prophetic book , He wrote called " For US the living". it is one of his early works.
Where writes about things coming to past as a Theocratic Facist Dictator comes to Power in the USA .Written in story form.
It seemed to address parralels of our possble situations now, using similiar concepts , meant to sound , somewhat extraordinary, ( so the powers that be at that time would ot censor his book) regarding the removal of many civil rights
Think it maybe a interesting read, regarding what maybe coming in the future...It was written for mass consumption by average level readers..i believe .
.....Hopefully it will not be banned as this man comes to power. ![]()
