That would assume that both universes share the same space in which case they would have always been the same universe.

It would be incredible if an alternate universe mirrored everything in this one except for one minor event. the butterfly effect would be enough to compeletely change everything downstream if something minor happened e.g.
- Charles Darwin developed sea sickness
- Adolph Hitler was accepted into art school
- Julius Caesar spoke with a travelling Buddhist monk and took a vow not to harm
- JFK stopped for a burger in Deely Plaza in 1963
